Huh? Howzat???

Adam: Huh? Howzat again? Golf buggies issit?

There were two little mysteries in the newspapers yesterday and today.

Yesterday.

It was reported in The New Sunday Times yesterday that the police are planning to buy golf buggies to use for patrolling tourist "hot spots" (what are these?). The New Sunday Times story says that the buggies cost RM26,500 each. I don't know how many units the police flers are thinking of buying but surely it would be a sizeable purchase if the plan is to have a semblance of credibility. 10 of those machines will cost RM265,000. A hundred would cost RM2.65 million!!! I have been a Malaysian for close to 60 years so there is a part of me that is asking if there is someone whose cousin's mother-in-law's younger adopted sister is a dealer in golf buggies. Sorry la. But seriously, folks. Who came up with this cockamimmie idea? Patrol 'sprawling' police complexes and narrow streets in golf buggies???!!! How's that going to make the mata-mata more effective in their work? Before the bright spark who came up with this rather predictable way of spending 9th Malaysia Plan money didn't he/she/they consider other, more obvious alternatives that will not make them look incompetent?

Like BICYCLES maybe!!!American bicycle police unit

NIAMAH!!!

Today.

I have always liked the current sultan of Selangor. Good guy. Head on his shoulders. Doesn't give out his state's dato-ships like they were so much trash. Thinks and does good for the people of Selangor. His Royal Highness is on the first leg of his planned car drive from Beijing to Paris. Great! But this line in The Star story caught my eye...

" A group of Malaysians led by Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo was at the flagging off of the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge to see the Sultan off. "

Was the Toyo fler and his goons at the Beijing flagging off ceremony or were they just standing in Shah Alam waving flags?

If it is the latter then, Well Done, Toyo! If it is the former, then we shall expect some answers when you return as to who approved this latest "holiday" trip.

A group of Malaysians led by.........

See how we ordinary Malaysians are always the fall guys? They should say so la if they meant a group of state assemblymen or a group of developer-type dato's or some other equally mercenary characters. Much as we love and admire the Sult. we ordinary Malaysians have more important things to do than stand around and wave flags and waste public money.

NIAMAH!!!

yeah, bicycle patrols are used in so many countries... but in m'sia there will be problems...

1. getting policemen who are fit enough to ride around,
2. each bike will cost something in the range of RM20k after cousin's mother-in-law's younger adopted sister gives the quote and
3. it will cost another RM700 to get the pdrm logo on the helmet...

The police sure can get extra exercise and spend so much less with bicycle.

Must be another "skim cepat kaya" from the government.

RM26,500 for a golf buggy? Wow! Couldn't that buy a Viva or what used to be a Kancil car?

Its call neo-feudalism man. Our society is still very much into it. Dunno why.

Patrick, for the face-lifted Toyo it is an election campaign thing. He is aware that Mansion Zak is mustering his forces to stand against him as next MB. Railway gate-keeper against mouth-therapist. That will be a contest. Tiew!

Zorro, u mean he hopes to improve his chances by spending some more tax-payers money badly? And if the good people of Selangor vote for the mansion fler I will seriously consider moving back to Ipoh, Perak. At least there I've got a royal prince who knows what he's talking about.

talking about flagoff, our Sports Minister - Datuk Azalina also went to Kathmandu to pass the Malaysia flag to the group of Mt Everest climbers!!!! Can the govt explain what the @#$% she is doing it for. No business sense and what objectives to meet????

Well c-cube, it sure looks like our politicians are experts at at least one thing...identifying photo opportunities. It's just a shame that your money and mine goes towards that.

These politikuses can't save(pocket) more money if they employ me to retouched their botoxed faces on any situation they need, I'm cheap! lolx

actually, the police will be able to patrol better with roller-blades. if they sit too long in the buggies, the tummies will also get bulky, and how are they suppose to maintain world peace then? especially if there are small crooks they need to chase after? hahaha...

For all you know, the trip is probably paid by some chinaman who wants some government contracts.

Call a spade a spade ler.

Anyway, to Pat, here's a funny read on the heavily-botoxed Toyolman:

26,500 for a golf buggy? It better damn well have a 50-cal on top, with some bullet-proof glass and shit.

• Buggies?? I don't know any tourist "hot spot" besides the KLCC park that a buggy can run on. All the sidewalks are uneven, full of lamp posts and the occasional dustbin, and not flat (sudden changes in elevation).

• RM26.5K for an open-air cart on wheels? Didn't entire Proton Sagas just sell for that price at retail? Fleet sale (buying wholesale) should be even cheaper!

• RM400K toilets, RM26.5K buggies.. *Now* I am clearer on where the 9MP money will go.

I was in Hong Kong last year. The cops there are lean, business like, helpful and know their turf well. No pot belly, no chatting on their handphones, no tidak apa attitude etc. I even witnessed an arrest made before my eyes. It looked like hollywood; tough young looking plainclothes policemen assisted by uniformed personel standing 20 feet away while they frisked the culprit. Our police!!!

NiaSeng..!! Obviously any purchases made by Government are at least 1000 times the actual cost. I don't see the point of the golf buggy. Drive in a narrow street with that giant? I don't think so. How big is the street what we have in Malaysia? Can they able to make a U turn in the narrow street? Come on NiaSeng government, where are your brain? I don't think any of the 1st Class country using golf buggy as such a purpose. Malaysia Boleh!!!. Surely, apa pun boleh. Nothing is impossible.

Patrick, my fear is that there are some politicians that will use photos of the accomplishments by individuals in the eyes of the world for their own propaganda means. Take a look at Flags of Our Fathers. The photo taken was used as a propaganda by the post-Roosevelt administration and it is now part of the U.S hegemony.

Are they going to use this for the upcoming General Elections? Yes!

As for buggies...there are some places you can't use for the tyre condition may not fit the road condition - what if they have to go pass a big bump? BOOM!

When can the powers-that-be wake up to the fact every sen thay spend belong to the us the rakyat? Don't they have a any conscince at all? Or can't the flers who have the power to reign in all these excesses do something about it? Shame! NIAMAH!!!

The best part is when they will actually chase the baddies using the Golf Cart. Nice chase scene. Something like from "Undercover Brother".

Kasi glamour sikitlah. Even the Thais use Segway nowadays. Heheheh.

I know why they need buggies. That's because most of the big crooks can be found on the golf course. All the triads'/gangsters' godfather type & corrupted type politicians, etc, etc. Get it! Mystery solve, do you agree?
If that's the reason, good choice!
Otherwise, NIAMAH!!!

vasu said...

they wana use buggies so it's more comfortable to sleep under the sun...

How do you expect those bloated cops of ours to run a few hundred meters to chase a crook? At least if they use buggy they may have an excuse that buggy now is too slow.. NIAMAH!!!

IggySingh said...

Malaysian polis on bicycles?? Hah! That will be the day lah.
Maybe the buggies give them better wheelies?

I laughed so much. Thanks for sharing.. I missed that in our papers.

a future newspaper headline "BUGGY STOLEN WHILE POLICE CHASE THIEF"

u see....it will take 2 to patrol in a buggy...one to drive n guard the buggy, and another to run after the thief! i wonder how many pedestrians will be knocked down while the chase is going on...

Hello Mr. Teoh, how r u??
RM26.5k for golf buggies? What are these fellers thinking? Whats wrong with RM4.5k motorbikes?

Too bad I dont have any 'friends' in high places who can buy a load of my RM15 pogo-sticks and take RM5 for each unit sold.

FoggyDuo said...

And did you see todays paper, with Penang police riding around on bikes? A LOT more sensible than the buggies, cheaper, easier to manouver in tight spaces and chase crooks down back alleys, and they get exercise too!

Hey.. why don't they used ostrich? No petrol, nature friendly, low maintanence..
