Malaysian Artistes For Unity

Watch, listen, enjoy, download the video, talk about it, spread the word to friends, family, enemies, bigots, people whom you don't really like, students in white bloused uniforms, politicians who are perpetually moronic...anyone who believes or should believe in ONE NATION, ONE PEOPLE, ONE MALAYSIA!!!

I liked the video, carries good upbeat energy! Any idea who came up with the concept and who financed the production?

Patrick, be wary of the "Malay/Malaysian Unity" ideology, dreamed up by Umno/BN. It's in parallel to "Malay Supremacy" ideology to brainwash Malays and other Malaysians to be ultra-nationalistic and patriotic in musguided ways. I simply do not have anything in common with greedy and fascist elitist/capitalist scums especially in Umno or BN! Our loyalty is better off at struggling for social justice, especially for the oppressed and the poor!

Nice. They should make this the theme song for National Day instead of the usual crap they dish out year after year!

antares,

the project is unfunded. everyone, behind and in front of the camera, worked for free and it did not have a budget. pete teo wrote the song and produced it. yasmin ahmad and ho yuhang directed the video. the project has stressed its non-government, non-partisan and non-profit position. more information at http://www.malaysianartistesforunity.info . apparently the video is 7th most viralled video in the world as compiled by some UK newspaper as of now. you can download everything for free on the above site.

anonymous 11.30pm,

Your comment is extremely negative. You have deep personal issues. No one believes one song will do it, nor will a thousand songs. This is just a little bit from MAFU, at least they have made a contribution their way. If you want a better Malaysia, do your little bit too.

Such wonderful song will never get airplay on local TV or radio. Instead they would want us to listen to the usual Lagu-lagu Patriotik that define what they deem as Malaysian Unity.

I suggest the song be released as a CD single. Let us buy it to show our support and to drive it up our music charts. Force the local radio to play it. I hope there will be a Bahasa Malaysia version, Bahasa cina version and Bahasa Tamil version. I urge all Malaysian artists to participate and promote it.

Remember before the election we get those video clips of different races coming together on the mainstream TV (RTM & TV3)? It is meant to fish our votes. I dare RTM and TV3 to show this 'Here In My Home/ video before the 8 pm news buletin.

Syabas to "Here In My Home' production team.

It's a much more sincere display of patriotism than sticking as many Jalur Gemilang on one' car as possible.

Musically it sounds like a ripoff of Wonderwall. But the message within sounds like a ripoff of what is in my mind =)

Malaysia today..is quite different from yesteryears...don't you think so Pat?
Nowadays...Malaysians dare to speak up...especially the Muslims.......not withdrawn and shy..like before.
And so smart too!!
This is good for the future.
I think I can die in peace...anytime.
Meanwhile..take care.....my friend.

Good stuff. It reminds me of my younger days spend under the sun in Sarawak. Where I came from, it doesn't matter what race u are, we are all 'East-Malaysian' under pressure to perform better that our 'West-Malaysian' counterparts.

We cherish our differences and and yet we melt under the same scorching sun to some form of cohesion. Hey, I 100% chinese, but I speak half a dozen dialect, from Melanau to Iban to Hokkien and I have relations from Orang kayan to Orang Brunei.

So this video is a good reflection on how we should move on here in West Malaysia. Over the pass 10 years I've been here, the so much polarization that I truly felt alienated. Not because of any race discrimination, but god forbid, the lack of interaction amongst races here in the peninsular.

So the video hold true to me, does it do the same justice for the rest of us...my 20sen says no....

My streamyx was surprisingly fast today so i decided to press the play button to see what the fuss is all about.

The problem with releasing such a song here in malaysia at this point in time is that everyone will think it's another BN propaganda music (with military marching beat?)

I for one lumped this song together with all the other BN brainwashing songs when i first read about it.

HEY, important international artist, negarakuku singer, is missing from the list?

NIAMAH!

Hi Patrick,

Do you believe that one fine day all the races will unite as Malaysians?

I am in doubt forever because there is always RACISTS in town!
