This is really too much la!!!

Wouldn't you like this at a nominal price?

Can you believe it? After 4 (or was it 5?) days of the announcement that the Terengganu flers bought a fleet of Mercedes Benz E200 Kompressor for almost 3 and a half million Ringgits the top story in the dailies today is still about the cars! What? Is nothing else more important that needs addressing and resolving in a country faced with record inflation and other problems? Or is the government purposely doing this to piss the people off and divert attention from other more embarasing and damaging issues facing the ruling coalition?

We got lots of problems and we are talking about cars and who should drive which model???!!!

Okay, if it is their intention to piss me off they sure as hell succeeded! The whole bloody episode is ridiculous. After raising fuel prices and dispensing unsolicited advice to change our lifestyle and plant vegetables on balconies to save hard earned money we are told that a BN state government has purchased a fleet of Mercedes Benz's. And not just normal Mercs but the Kompressor model which cost even more. Then when the outcry hit the excuse proffered was that the Mercs were cheaper to maintain than the approved vehicles, the Proton Banana's...huh? what's that?...oh sorry I mean Perdana's. As if that wasn't enough some fler had the audacity to announce that the state government had spent more than RM131,449 to service and maintain justs one of the Perdana's belonging to the state. What do they do with those offcial cars? Do they race them in rallies or drag them on the streets of KT?

Oh we officials and all have to travel great distances to do our duties you know. Ya right! I don't care if you drive your official Perdana on the Paris-Dakar Rally. If your head is screwed on right you should have known something was wrong and rectified it instead of wasting tax-payers money.

Then I read somewhere that official cars were always sold to the 'officers' for a nominal price after a few years. Then I thought, "Ah so!!!" Is that why BMW's and Mercedes Benz's are better. I mean who would want to buy a 4 year old Perdana even for a nominal price, right? So, while I can I will approve purchases of cars which I would not be ashamed of driving on the highway when I balik kampung for Hari Raya la. Ya! Of course BMW's and Mercs are better cars. Really one. Trust me!

So I thought, what about other makes that are supposedly also prestigious and more reliable and cheaper to maintain than the national Junk? Toyota Camry? Honda Accord? Volvo? Cheaper what. Answer: No la. When I get nominal price I want Beemer or Merc la. Ada gaya ma.

But what about rising cost of everything in Malaysia? Don't you want to lead by example and save the tax-payer's money? Eh! Hello, you don't listen to us ah? We already said that we spend hundred of thousands to repair and maintain the Protons. Mercedes don't need so much ma. So we must save the tax-payers some money isn't it? So we buy a fleet of cars that cost RM3.4 million la. Don't see the logic issit? Stupid!

And they really think we are stupid.

I read in the papers today that the cabinet has approved the purchase of the cars but stated that they are only to be used to ferry VIP guests for official functions!!! What was said exactly was, "...but they can only be used for foreign dignitaries."

“We said (to Ahmad) the important thing was that the Cabinet had decided that the state government should not use the cars for its executive councillors. I said use the Mercedes cars for guests who are visiting”...Prime Minister Badawi.

Foreign dignitaries??? What foreign dignitaries? If George W. Bush or Lee Hsien Loong decide to visit for a couple of days rent the damn cars for them. Anyway, Bush brings his own wherever he visits. So what's the problem? And we are not so fond of Lee these days so let the bugger sit in the Proton la. So what's the problem?

Ask yourself this question. Now that these executive councillors have those Mercedes Benz's how often more do you think that their Perdanas will break down requiring them to use the Mercs instead? Need me to draw you a picture ah?

If you are from Terrenganu...no even if you're not but just a Malaysian read this and see if it makes you sick to your stomach?

“I told them that the state government has not spent extravagantly and the decision to procure the Mercedes cars was done after two years of evaluation”...Terrenganu Chief Minister. And then to kick you in the balls again...“I have also received support from other state leaders and ministers on my move (to replace the Proton Perdanas).”

Terrenganu is one of the poorest states in Malaysia and they spend 2 years debating whether to buy Mercedes Benz cars??? And have to ask for support from other state leaders and ministers???

Just what the F**K do our elected representatives do with their time???

NIAMAH!!!

What they're saying is even gomen officials - who SHOULD buy the national cars - think Proton cars are shite...

The Government has just confirmed to us that it is expensive to maintain Proton car, therefore please buy Japanese cars that already have higher resale value.

What a bloody fiasco. Do the BN state gomen thinks they can performs better if they they they drive a better car? It's all in their corrupt and irresponsible minds...kick them all out now before more misuse of the rakyat's monies....

1. Pak Lah never even bothered to issue a show cause notice to the T'ganu State MB. Instead he said "PakaiLAH for visitors"

2. Well, for the other BN led states, this serves as a precedent. Don't bother thinking about the rakyat, go and get yourselves each a Brabus. Buy first, disclose later.

3. Even if Pak Lah decides later on that those toys are for state visitors so what ? Who's gonna make sure Pak Lah's directives are followed ?

MPs, Wakil Rakyats, Assemblymen, Cabinet Members, whatever grand titles they give yourselves, must remember that they are there because the rakyat put them there. So they should not be so almighty being chauffer-driven in foreign cars all day. If a Proton or a Perodua are good enough for the rakyat, then a Proton or a Perodua should also be good enough for them! Remember that it is NOT the tail that wags the dog!

Readers .. you believe these Benz will be parked in the garage waiting for foreign dignitries to visit? Must be joking .. who wants to come to a state governed by such gomen people!! Worse is ... the decision-maker to buy these 14 Benz was not even penalized for violation of use-Perdana ruling!! This is typical of the sleepy PM ... lembut and tak-guna!! These 14 Benz should not have remained in KT but instead be sold to every other state for genuine use to ferry foreign VVIPs. At least Terengganu can get back some cash which belongs to the Rakyat!

Everytime a minister open his gap, he put his foot in it. PM also no difference. Open mouth and think we are all morons to believe their reasoning. Yes, the MB is right, go check out the corruption elsewhere.

Reason why so expensive to maintain any car for them is due to corruptiuon. Eg tyred thread no good, send car in to change tyres? Yes, on top of that make a few fictitious repairs la, then claim alot lo. Otherwise how to cope during festive season la.

Then on the 4th yr, change every damn thing so that when the car if offered for sale, the bugger can buy it cheap and get a fully repaired car....coruption just never finish la. Do us a favour la Messrs Minister, just do what you like and dont bother telling us all the nonsensical excuses la. Country has gone to the dogs long time back and the dogs keep getting bigger and fiercer.

the purchase & maintenance contract of all govt vehicles is given to a UMNO FRONT COMPANY,"SPANCO". to my knowledge and from people working there, it is a money making goldmine, helmed by none other than UMNO CRONIES.
SPANCO IS A SO CALLED 'FLEET MANAGEMENT COMPANY" BUT in actual fact as aca investigation will show is actually a 'FLEECING THE GOVT FOR UMNO, FRONT"
AHMAD THE MB OF TRENGGANAU, let the cat out of the bag when he mentioned the companies name. now it is going to be a war of words and cover-ups, lets see who wins, this is going to be a war between 2 umno fronts, lets see whether they will be clean and upfront, because this scandal will be the final nail into the coffin of proton, so this UNITY WAR BETWEEN PROTON ( who is fighting for survival) vs SPANCO, unity war between umno cronies. lol, gajah sama gajah lawan, kambing mati tengah tengah, sapa menang, itu mamak, dia dapat free kambing, buat soup kambing a la viagra.

That Mohd Said fler took over MB post from the Terengganu state government for less than 6 months and how could he know and stressed that they had taken two years to evaluate the Mercedes car? I don't see the logic here?

Luckily that Mohd Said fler is a Malay and an UMNO member cum Menteri Besar of Terengganu, and that's why he dared to condemn Proton car's lousy quality. If a non-Malay VIP fler were to make that kind of negative statement against the national car's manufacturer publicly, I guess he would be called as unpatriotic and may be condemned by the UMNO members and may even be asked to leave Malaysia ....

IMHO, if they want to support Proton and present an image to the public that economy is necessary, the Persona will do. It might not be so prestigious, but it is definitely more reliable and much cheaper to maintain than the notorious Perdana or Mercedes. Alternately, the Toyota Vios, Honda City or Nissan Latio at the most.

While the people are asked to tighten their belts, it is absurd that elected representatives are showing ostentatious consumption. Shades of Animal Farm!

The present government have really forgotten about running the country. They are brandishing their swords against each other for the past 1 year, and there is no sign that they will stop here.

Please, please, please look at our neighbour Vietnam or Cambodia or Thailand, these far flung third world countrys are fast overtaking us economically. Why, it is simply their government devote 80% of their time caring for their people economically.

We are so different. We are dishing out Billion Dollar Futuristic projects, that are damned bloody useless now, and god knows, will they ever be useful infuture!!!

By another decade, the interest on bonds or loans for financing the project would have balooned to triple Cost. And these DIRTS would be the burden for our future generations. All because, we have voted this CARELESS Government.

Is there anywhere else where you have a government STILL Preaching Racism? Besides Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe and Malaysia, I can't see anywhere else.

Syed Zainal said RM542 was a reasonable figure, adding that the average total maintenance cost for a car travelling up to 30,000km per year was RM2,300 and would increase with heavier usage

this is the actual cost of maintenance for perdanas per year, so how does the state govt run up such high bills, is it another "special umno syndrome- helping cronies get rich scheme" IS THIS WHAT THEY CALL "KETUANAN ", "TOWERING", "SEGI AGAMA DAN BANGSA"
or is it in actual fact CORRUPTION TO THE FIRST DEGREE.
ANYWAY WHO IS THESE "SPANCO" FLEET MANAGEMENT WALLAS, what is so special, that govt fleets needs to be sent to them for servicing, WHAT IS PROTON AFTER SALES SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE FOR? ISN'T PROTON A GLC AND A NATIONAL CAR PROJECT, SO WHY SUPPORT THIS SPANCO WALLAS, WHO IS BEHIND THIS SPANCO, THIS IS THE PROBLEM OF ABUSING the system to enrich cronies, well they opened up a big can of worms and the worms are all over the place.
I think it would be good for the MB AHMAD TO FIRST COLLECT THE WANG EHSAN/ROYALTY/POCKETMONEY OR whatever name they want to give it, COLLECT WHAT IS OWED THAN JOIN PAKATAN, THAT WILL BE A REAL KICK IN THE B**lS TO UMNO.

Pat, why should you be pissed off with these blokes? After all it is the very typical UMNO mentality - show off, kiasu, kiasi, all rolled into one. The PM sokong the purchase but the Merc are to be used for foreign VIPs only. What????? By right, shouldn't they show-off our national cars to let our foreign guests know how good our Perdana is?? Another thing, why 14 Mercs just for our foreign guests? Do you mean to say, there will be frequent entourages of visitors to KT that warrant so many units? I think 3 units should suffice. You see - PM's mentality + KT MB's mentality = typical UMNO mentality.

When Lim Guan Eng took office as the new CM of Penang, he scraped the purchase of new vehicles for the state Ex-Co and said that the present fleet is still as good. In Selangor, Tan Sri Khalid has opted for the Toyoto Camry for his State Exco members. See the difference?

Anonymous said...

That's why Malaysian consumers have to pay more for whatever they buy cos we have to go through 3rd party. Only couple of days ago I had to repair my proton wira spotlight cos water seep in. My mechanic told me why I wanted an original spareparts. So I asked what's the difference? My mechanic told me actually there's no difference both coming from the same factory (but price difference) but the other with a printed word belongs to a 3rd party who charged royalty fee. Get it. So you know why proton parts are so expensive.

Anonymous said...

by tracing the so-called malaysia incorporated concept of the mamak-kutty, such behaviours have been the norm. the cronies would have undertaken to send the cars to proton for maintenance but the logistics cost would be 3x higher. this had been the practice for all gomen project.otherwise where would have all the monies paid by petronas gone to? even with the mercs, they would not last 25% of the time a private user's before repairs strat to pour in. The reality is the so-called changed part is never changed, only cash change hand! this include all organisations where public money is involved, it is mind set of the nation after 22 years of TDM's economic miracle!!

Dear PM

People must respect you especially your own ministers. However to gain respect you must mean what you say and say what you mean. Now that a few ministers wont follow your directive to use the Merc for foreign vip, what are you going to do? Give more reasons or exemptions? I mean you can say when there is no foreign vip then minister can use car for private or govt functions. Ah, this should be your next move; it fits into your pattern of announcement ie. say something to solve problem created by earlier announcements.

I think Malaysia need a 2 party system; No.1 party is one that will emphasis on Malay unity first then only non malay unity. This should be a "safe" move as malays account for majority of the citizens. No.2 party only talk about Malaysians, it must not be race based.

Like that then maybe we can have UMNO and PAS verses the rest. The non based parties must be honest and back the hell out of any race based coalition.

I wonder how many advance/developed countries in this world has a constitution that gives special right to one particular race. If this kind of policy is not healthy for a country development then it has to be amended even if it is in the constitution. But if no balls to change it then learn to live with it. As for me, i believe there should be equality, if not then i will pretend to live as though all is ok but deep inside, i know how i will vote, live my life etc

Hell, you think they can't afford it? They are a much richer country than your Malaysia. No, it's just that they are much more sensible and articulate to know that you don't just go round spending the people's money for your own fancies. Being paid 20K per week, but thinking he should deserve at least 100K, Mat flaunted his wealth by getting himself a brand new E200. Even though he could easily afford E240 or go for even higher specs, after sparing some thought to his poor wage-earner fans, he settled for the entry model.

However his step-father was not impressed. Never been the blue-eyed boy, Mat was reprimanded for being politically-insensitive.

Pak Dol disallowed Mat from using the car. “If Aru, Mokhtar and Towkay could cycle to training ground and yet train so dedicatedly, Mat should be grateful for the V6, ‘given’ by his brother,” some neighbours offered their two-cents worth of thought.

Instead, Pak Dol ‘advised’ Mat to keep the car for use during Hari Raya to fetch balik kampung relatives, who actually had not been back as far as Mat memory could recall.

This flamboyant young man, who had just managed to secure his team captain’s armband after a rather prolonged tussle, remained defiant, albeit not unreasonably.

Gaining support from his fellow professional footballers, including one who modelled part-time, Mat continued using his E200.

When asked about his opinion on this protracted saga over a rather trivial issue, an arm-chair football pundit had this to offer.

“It does not matter what he drives, as long as he scores and the team wins. With footballer earning 120K yet calling himself slave, what is a car costing twice this amount?”

From the perspective of an underpaid, overworked middle-class wage-earner fan who is bearing the brunt of inflation, if driving E200 will spur Mat and his teammates to deliver on the field, thus repay the faith of the loyal ticket-paying supporters and not resorting to football bribery, I do not even care if he flies on the chopper to the playing ground.

The cost to maintain the Protons are jacked up so much, thus it becomes too much to "maintain".

Official: "Apa jumlah?"

Mechanic: "RM1,356"

Official: "Oh, bill goverment RM21,356 lah, yang excess belakang kira"

MORON rakyats have these to say...
Why are we so uptight about spending RM3.4M when other BIGGER BUCKS are spent on MEGA Projects just in Trengganu state alone? No need to elaborate what these MEGA Projects are, right? All of a sudden we see lots of ACA officials investing this alleged abuse when all other BIG BUCKS still go unattended. Is that a right statement? If so we know who should be nominated for the Oscars, right?
From one of the MORON rakyats.

Correct, correct, correct! These flers really need your NIAMAHlah!

More important issue like now Hisham considering reverting teaching of Maths & Science to Bahasa. Read here why they should continue to teach in English.

Inflation and economic mismanagement is not addressed. Read "An economic agenda to consider

What about strategy ? Is there strategic thinking in Malaysia

Of course there are strategic thinking in Malaysia...all the time. You think it's easy coming up with so many mega projects without proper strategic thinking-ah? There are so many experts in the think-tank to do this - that's why we see so many big bucks spent benefiting so many people.
TNS!

Come on, don't act surprise that Proton is no good. Everybody knows this fact. The only thing we still don't know is why are we still trying to nurse Proton.

By the way, the T2 was just in front of me today in JB. It is beautiful.

I only wonder why AAB bother to talk since nobody listen.

The Terengganu MB, in righteousness as exemplary to the governing administration whether BN or Pakatan should offer the cars for aution to all Malaysians aka The Public or The Citizens.

Show transparency, that is all Malaysians want today, excluding Umnoputras of course. They don't want transparency, they want to blood-suck , rape and sodomise the country and the tax-payers. Niamah!

seriously, malaysian politicians are full of BALONEYS!! what foreign dignitaries are they talking about?! I mean, who would visit malaysia, much less terengganu so often?! And then what? Keep the car in the garage until their next visits - YEARS down the road (if they ever come back!) And mind you, it's not just 1 freakin' car. It's the entire f**king fleet of cars that cost $3.4Mil. So please la... we taxpayers are not stupid and kid us not! for god's sake, we MAKE the money being PAID to the government who then make POOR decisions and decided to WASTE our hard-earned money. Doesnt that makes them the bunch of losers whom we'd love to HATE?! MALAYSIA TAK BOLEH => that's what the government under Pak Lah is all about.
