FINALLY!

"Them" and "Us"
He started it? He ends it?

I am a happy Malaysian today!!!

After 52 years of independence a Prime Minister of Malaysia finally gets it right! For decades Malaysians have lived with, accepted and embraced each other's differences. And gotten on with it. "It" being the gotong-royong way of building and developing the country we love. And doing it for ALL Malaysians.

Then the politicians began to highlight our differences and startied calling on Malaysians to "TOLERATE" each other. When before it was understand and accept it suddenly became tolerate. Even without my Engrand being very good I know that to tolerate implied superiority of one over another. And of course that ripened into the 'them and us' attitude which festered into the 'we are masters and you are the tolerated immigrants' and other superiority complexes.

But now a Malaysian Prime Minister has announced that it is "......Time for all races to embrace, and not just tolerate, each other". And I am a happy Malaysian today. Now to try and understand fully what he really means by his 1Malaysia concept

NIAMAH!!!

I am also happy too..knowing "1 Malaysia" means UMNO has not change at all.
It is ...kaki ku kaki race....and get together as one.
What's new??
Hi folks...As long as there is UMNO..there is no united Malaysian Malaysia.

Sorry to put a damper on this Pat but, I say it's Gobbledygook. Hogwash. Whitewash. BS at it's usual DUMBNO best .. Been there, heard it, seen it all. Sorry, not buying it as long as the statement comes from DUMBNO.

Finally some one has the gumption to eliminate that "tolerate each other" mindset.

Patrick,

Everybody can talk whatever cock he wants. Same goes to this najis. Whatever said is just a deception to garner non-malays support only. If he can be trusted and same as for umno, my cock can talk. I have been following malaysian politics long enough (since late 60's) to opine this. I'm sure you too, Patrick.

Many of us grew up not knowing the difference of black and white, but those idiotic politicians (guess from which party?) taught us all we are so different and should never be one.

Malaysians like you & me are still "NOT" convince on whatever "logo" that comes out of his mouth.

Too much heartache has been "done" to the rakyat....!
Too much of rakyat's money being spent that are "NOT" accounted for......!

Too much of police "force" on the rakyat's rights...!
Too much of corruption in own party "NOT" looked into...!
Too much of double-standards implemented...........!!!
Too much of time wasted & "unanswered" questions & "missing" persons & "guilty" people who are let loose on the Altantuya"s case......!!!!!!!!!!!

Too much..... Too much......!!!

All these are just talk only. Will his underdogs "follow".....?????

"YES"...!!!
Definitely not him & wife.....!!!

Give our PM the benefit of doubt la ... people can change one.

We need to embrace what 1Malaysia means and how our PM and his team implement them.

I want to believe! ... as our favorite Mulder said.

As long as UMNO, MCA, MIC and similar race orientated political party exist, there is no Malaysian's Malaysia.

Trevor said...

To start this, I'd suggest Najib to give an order, to remove the "race" column in all the registration form.

Only Malaysian and Non-Malaysia, no more "Malay, Chinese, Indian" stuff.

If he can't do that, I can only conclude whatever he said as...

Just the usual expected kok tok only ler, Patrick. Absolutely devoid of sincerity or real substance. And far too little too late even if he and umno/bn partly meant it at all.

Anonymous said...

Patrick,
Embrace?? I want but really Ccn or not? I'd like to see more embracing between Malaysians of different faiths without the religious authorities JAWI, JAIS et al suddenly turning up and turning PM's call on its head.

Historically, the 3 main political parties that made up the Alliance (UMNO, MCA & MIC) probably adopted the mantra that each political party needs to work with the others for Malaysia's survival.

But after 22 years of one PM's authorative rule and another 5 years of another PM's lack of rules, it does seem that these 3 main political parties have adopted a different calling - we must work together for our survival.

No prizes for who the "our" refers to.

K L said...

The author should come out to explain its true meaning, rather than leaving it to everyboby to interpret differently. No wonder some interpret it as 1Black Malaysia, some as Wanted Malaysian !

If he does act like he talks, perhaps there is a chance he may NOT be the LAST PM from BN for Malaysia.

Try telling our younger generation that you are a Malaysian and he/she probably will answer you back, I am a Malay or Chinese or Indian or Others. Can't blame them because when they enroll into a school, the basic question is "Apa nama anda, bangsa, umur, etc.

Buy a house, there is also a column asking about your race, etc.

In United States, the Americans will tell you that I am a citizen of America and I am an American. No orange, blue, black, etc.

If you are not satisfied with the system in Malaysia, if you are vocal, ISA is waiting for you.

Worse still, some people will ask you to go back to your Motherland whereby perhaps, you are being born here. You study other languages in order to be a bit knowledgeable, you are "branded" as not patriotic ! Study Engrand to be better, you are seen to be not patriotic ! Some people uttered some words that don't appease you, you must swallow in as if you are drinking 7-Eleven's Gulp ! Pendatang lah ! This lah that lah !

Isn't tolerance is something you say to yourself like even if I am eating a bowl of rice and you put some sand in my bowl, I must smile at you and say, please pour more and I like it ! Thank you for doing this !

Ha ! Niamah ! Niapah ! Niapoh ! Niayeh !

Raub villagers protest potential cyanide use

Some 3,000 residents of Kampung Baru Bukit Koman in Raub, Pahang, are questioning a state agency’s decision to allow the use of cyanide in a gold-mining operation in Bukit Koman.

Chemical Dangers :

- One teaspoon of a 2% solution can kill a person.
- Cyanide is the killing agent used in gas chambers.

Very soon, this potential hazard has every chance spillover into Selangor once The Pahang-Selangor Inter-State Raw Water Transfer Project is completed.

The Story Unfolds Here...

I have just noticed from the latest issue of '8 Days' magazine that Patrick Teoh is starring in one new telemovie of MediaCorp.

Seems like RTM/Media Prima/Astro/Metrowealth got no movie project for Patrick Teoh?

Or is it becuase the lure of Singapore dollar (1 S$ = 2.4 RM) is too strong for Patrick to resist?

A talent lost?

Patrick Teoh will be starring in a Father's Day telemovie 'ANGEL' to be telecast over Singapore Channel 5 this Saturday 10 pm.

At least he can act as a Chinese in Spore and not to be a Honda-san to cari makan for those Finas-sponsored movie projects.

For all you know Patrick may be asked to play a role of Communist in thenext Malay movie to glorify the malay soldiers.

NEW BROADBAND NETWORK IN SINGAPORE
Installation starts in Sept

OPENNET consortium which is building Singapore's next generation broadband network will begin installing fibre cables into homes and office buildings from September.

The consortium, which comprises Singapore Telecommunications, Singapore Press Holdings, SP Telecommunications and Axia Netmedia, will start its work in four clusters - Macpherson/Braddell, Jurong, Middle Road, and Geyland/Eunos.

It expects to complete installation in 56,000 homes and 1,000 office buildings within the first month and 60 per cent of all homes and offices done by 2010.

Installation of the cables, which will enable broadband speeds of up to 1Gbps, for homes and offices, is free, and will take four hours.

Those who do not want it installed will have to pay $220 for apartments and $450 for landed property if they decide to install it later on.

To check when OpenNet will be installing the cables, check www.opennet.com.sg.

The company will also be sending out letters to homeowners to inform them of the installation.

This is very sad Patrick, I am sure you've read about it in last years news but there was never any concrete followup. Worse if we think about other sweatshops here like cheetah. As a prominent blogger, I hope you can raise awareness about this among your circle.
