Celebrate good times, come on!

Back to BM.................
The Star

English in schools: Policy reversed.........The New Straits Times

Science and maths to be taught in mother tongue.....Sin Chew Jit Poh

2012年起恢复母语教学 废英化数理政策....Nanyang Siang Pau

(Tried looking for Tamil newspapers online. Couldn't find any.)

It's a great day in Malaysia today.
A day that will go down in history as a day of celebration. Celebration of short-sightedness and knee-jerk stupidity. Rejoice fellow-Malaysians.

We can always think in BM and do a direct translation from BM to English, the UiTM way (see below):

Dear Sport Friends,

Good is not good enough when execution takes years!!! Why wait till 2012? If it is admitted that the current system does not meet the objective nor serve the purpose, why not abolish it and replace with the better one starting 2010, if not tomorrow?? Can't we have a wiser Minister of Education to decide on this? He is really a Niamah!!

Don't happy too early.

It only starts from 2012, fully on 2014, not now lah.

... and to improve the standard of English, the govt will be recruiting 14,000 more teachers to teach the language. English Literature will be introduced into the curriculum. Looketh like thy children shall speaketh the language liketh Shaespeare! Niamah!

It is the deteriorating standard in our educational system that has to be blamed and not the medium of instruction used in schools.

Just look at Japan, China, Russia and Korea.

I rest my case.

Great for 1Malaysia concept, where schools will learn all subjects in their own mother tongue, as compared to learning Science and Mathematic in English. Very soon 1malaysia will produce Nobel Laurettes in Science.

Don't worry lah you people ... if 2012 doesn't work out we can change back again right ??

2012 ... still plenty of time before WAHWAHSCIENCE 2020!!..right people ?

No wonder lah the ex-Education Minister Mr. Kerishamuddin sent his children to international schools. I am quite sure he didn't do that because the medium of teaching is BM there.

A policy decision by one generation, but has implications towards many generations to come. Don't be surprised that in 20 years time, potential investors will be citing lack of English proficiencies as one of the reasons they are not investing in Bolehland !

Dr M is unhappy with the decisiion.

He is conducting an online poll to find out the view of rakyat.

You can take the poll at his blog:

So far about 75% opposed the decision.

Make your voice heard.

People who support this abolishment of PPMSI and rejoicing with the annoucement:

Anwar Ibrahim
Lim Kit Siang
Prof Ungku Aziz

People who support
Many Rakyat

For once I support Mahathir this time for the protest againt the new announcement.

P.S. Mahathir may not be perfect, but he has the wisdom to correct the wrong, for the better future of our younger generation.

The Pakatan Rakyat who support the abolishmemt of PPMSI, i will revenge with my ONE vote come nexet election.

This one from the Klentong (Snake) King really anger me!!!

The excuse of rural student fair badly in Maths and Science as compared to urban student is ridicolous.

Can those idiots in Cabinet tell is whether other subjects taught in Bahasa Malaysia, the results of these rural student are better?

2 more years till 2012 is a MUST ,
why ? because publishers have contracts to produce English text & who knows commissions sudah paid !?

All our gov has to do is make English a must pass subject for UPSR, PMR, SPM and STPM.
And to support this goal the Education Ministry MUST hire qualified English teachers. The Science and Maths English medium is just bull crap from some recalcitrant who couldn't lick his own spit for reducing English as a no-need-to-pass subject for his own race based political gain when he was the PM. Enough said!!!

Ha ha.

Can Pak Niamah please do an investigation to find out how many of those prominent anti-PPMSI politicians who send their children overseas for Englsih education?

Top on the list is our ex-education minister Krishamudin.

These are politicians who have own agenda and con the rakyat. Hypocrites!

The Government is trying to teach our rakyat that in order to survive, one has to be versatile !

You can be pro-BN or you can be pro-PR !

Boleh land means everything boleh what ! Why worry ???

My daughter is less than 2 years old and she can understand both English and Japanese, and later will introduce Malay, Mandarin and Cantonese.

I can't see why we cannot take 1 step forward to integrate the BM textbooks few years back with the current English science and maths text books. Its a lot of effort, but why move backward instead of forward. We can allow students to use either English or BM to answer in the exams as long as the maths and science principles are correct.

Some good will surely come out of the dialectics at work between both languages instead of choosing either one. We need new advancements. We need Malaysia Boleh. Not some power struggle between languages.

When will Malaysia advance and not hold on to race and language as stumbling blocks but embrace our differences as advantages?

Plugpoint = alat cucuk
PC Driver = Pemandu Komputer
Modem = Modemah
Mouse pad = Tuala tikus
PC Monitor = Ketua Kelas Komputer
System corrupted = sistem makan suap
