See? I now do all my shouting in PWTC, Shangri-La ballroom...huh? Where? Padang? Keris? Chinese blood? Oh that one different. Long ago ready don't talk la.Have you noticed that the reactions from the government and all our YB's after a particularly large and effective demonstration against them is always the same? Right? Last weekend there was chaos in the city of Kuala Lumpur. Anti-ISA and Pro-ISA demontrations. Chaos mainly because of how the Malaysian Police always choose to handle these events and not because of the events themselves being violent or even unruly. And so today, the standard press releases get pulled out.
Traders lose millions in sales!
Police to take tough action!
Haven't we heard of those before. But today, something did make me gasp. In amazement. With the realisation that the people in government really don't think we are too bright.
"Don't join street demo" Prime Minister, Najib Razak told Malaysians that the government is willing to provide venues for people to vent anger. Apparently, Najib also said "We can provide them stadiums (stadiums? maybe someone should tell the fler that his Engrand is also slipping leh) where they can shout themselves hoarse till dawn, but don't cause disturbance in the streets." And that "it was unnecessary to inconvenience other road users..."
VENT ANGER!!!??? CAUSING INCONVENIENCE TO OTHER ROAD USERS???!!! GO AND SHOUT IN A STADIUM INSTEAD!!!???
Well, folks that is what our elected government thinks. That we are merely a bunch of irritating juveniles out for a bit of mischief on a Saturday morning. Does anybody still think they are really protecting anybody's rights and whatnot? In fact doing any good at all?
