Hello Patrick,

Pat,

I am now preparing a class action against Al Jazeera for that interview. I will be filing the suit under my own name on behalf of all Malay Muslims of Malaysia. I am pleading that Al Jazeera had deliberately put that Malay Youth whatever President to show that Malay Muslims of Malaysia are as thick as a can of cheap glue (which I deny that I'd ever ever sniffed).
I will ask for 450 million USD damages.
The case will be fixed (no pun intended, please) before the KL High Court soon.

Just FYI.

This is the best that can be offered by the malaysian muslims? Close door inter faith discussion? Why not, I remember one PM said cannot discuss. What does the muslims want anyway if the govt ban the christians fr using, discuss with govt? Court is the normal fall back but now the govt and leaders and even sultans say the H Court is wrong and dont follow t? Is this rule of law or what? Shameful I would say.

Thanks Patrick for the video, most timely!

Hahaha, everyone's having good laughs watching that Khairul what else, malu-lah! Typical brainless NEP product, incoherent and without substance, only dressed to impress, big deal on international tv!

In short there is no freedom of practising ones own religion unless it is Islam. Christians are suppose to tell others about jesus but if they are prohibited from telling it to Muslim then surely by definition this is some sort of prohibition so where is the freedom to practise?

The point he is trying hard to make is not so much how 9% can confused the 60%, it is the the 9% trying or pehaps accidentally confusing one muslim. You are not allowed to confused even one, that is the issue.

The Kahirul fella have nothing much to say except for the "merry go round" during the entire show. The argument he uses repeatedly is so UMNO. What an idiotic fella. So typical of an UMNO ploy and shallow transcript.

In my mind, the issue was started by an UMNO Home Minister to create mischief for political mileage. They will resort to anything and 'at all cost' even at the expense of making a mockery out of religion, just to stay in power.

If they are so Allah fearing as they claim to be, then Allah will know what to to comes judgment day.

They tried to insult the Hindus with the 'cow head' incident in Selangor, Now the burning of churches and a Sikh temple. What could possibly be next? Burning of Buddist and Toaist temples? I will not be surprised at all.

This is what happens when one does not even understand what the hell one is opposing about!

The other thing is that he is a typical example of why the English language is so important but then again, after such an embarrassing episode,these people will go all out now to promote the usage of Bahasa Malaysia over English.

When will Malaysia ever get their piorities right?

On a personal front, i would like to note that the guy speaking for the Islamic Youth Movement in this news report is an epic failed guy. His English is an epic failure, his debating skill is also an epic failure and not to mention that all he does is read from a prepared paper. Prove of what the education system in Malaysia can do for you if you are brainwashed properly. You do not know how to think for yourself and all you can do is to depend on what others tell you. Speaks volume about these people opposing the use of "Allah". They are presented with lots of facts regarding this issue and all they can do is use the same points "Allah is close to our heart", "we tolerate them for so long", "we should discuss behind closed doors" and "Muslims will be confused by the use of the word Allah by Christians" again and again and again. Ugh, how are we supposed to have a constructive dialogue if you only know how to respond in only four sentences? Maybe this is what is on the paper he is holding.

No matter what they say, pick only one of these four responses according to the situation.

Since Islam originated from the Middle East and spread by the Arabs to P.Malaysia and the Arabs hv no objection to it(use of word,allah, by the christians)so why the fuss about it.To give the reason of confusing the Muslims(to be exact,the Malay muslim)is to show your inconfidence of yourself in the religion.Or is it to mean the Islam of Malaysia is different from the Islam of the Middle East?

This Khairul chap is such an idiot, he started off quoting the senior DPP submission in the Herald's case. The sum total of what he said is Allah is only exclusively for the Muslim. He totally avoided answering the question that the A Word has been used since the early 19th Century when the Christian Missionary came to Malaysia. He could not answer that Indonesia with the largest Muslim population in the World has no issue on the use of the words.
My point is this, can't those Muslim chap get someone with a better caliber to at least give a plausible reason for the Muslim's objections. I feel so ashamed as a Malaysian, this chap is not only incoherent but does seem to understand the issues at hand.

I feel bad for Muslims. What a poor ambassador they had chosen to represent the Muslim side.

One thing I found very telling about the Malay/Muslim mentality. One of the protestors said, 'The word Allah is for the Malays.' What?? You mean Muslims of other races cannot use the word Allah? What nonsense!

You know, the word "Jesus" is used as a swear word. There are many groups that preach "Jesus" but one group's "Jesus" may be very different from another group's "Jesus". Will this cause confusion? Perhaps. But adherents of each group usually try to educate their followers well so that they will not be misled. They don't go around banning other groups from preaching a 'different Jesus'.

Will the Muslim society in Malaysia start banning other Islamic sects - or, groups who call themselves Muslim, but who fall outside of mainstream Islam - from using the word "Allah" in their publications?

I have been following your blog with great interest, Pat. Thank you.

I was thinking about Rukunegara of Malaysia. When I was in school, oh, more than 20 years ago now, we had to recite the Rukunegara at least once a week. I would guess that of my five years in secondary school, I would have recited it no less than 200 times.

MAKA KAMI, rakyat Malaysia, berikrar akan menumpukan seluruh tenaga dan usaha kami untuk mencapai cita-cita tersebut berdasarkan atas prinsip-prinsip yang berikut :

* KEPERCAYAAN KEPADA TUHAN
* KESETIAAN KEPADA RAJA DAN NEGARA
* KELUHURAN PERLEMBAGAAN
* KEDAULATAN UNDANG-UNDANG
* KESOPANAN DAN KESUSILAAN

In English:
WHEREAS OUR COUNTRY MALAYSIA nurtures the ambitions of:

* achieving a more perfect unity amongst the whole of her society;
* preserving a democratic way of life;
* creating a just society where the prosperity of the country can be enjoyed together in a fair and equitable manner;
* guaranteeing a liberal approach towards her rich and varied cultural traditions; and
* building a progressive society that will make use of science and modern technology.

NOW THEREFORE WE, the people of Malaysia, pledge to concentrate the whole of our energy and efforts to achieve these ambitions based on the following principles:

* BELIEF IN GOD
* LOYALTY TO KING AND COUNTRY
* THE SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION
* THE RULE OF LAW
* COURTESY AND MORALITY

I thought about that today, and realised that the Rukunegara doesn't mean anything!

Actually there's a hidden agenda behind this. The 'gormen' wants to convert the Christians in Sabah & Sarawak, hence not by confusion but by force. The whole exercise is to show the non-Muslims that only one-Corrupted Party can give you the right to call your god 'Allah'. Accept him and you can be saved with tax-payers money.

Khairul started by quoting the Federal Counsel's submission in court, and in the same breath he subsequently said the Christians should not have brought the matter to court....go figure.

His command of English and depth of argument all point to being a product of Bolehland's failed education system.

The Khairul fella looked positively pissed at the end of the programme.

ABIM should have put forward KJ to submit on behalf of Muslims. KJ's command of English would have given a much better preception of Islam.

I thought the Herman fella should not have taunted the audience saying it was incredulous for a 9% population to confuse the 60%. Unnecessarily inflammatory.

I really wish that those groups of Malaysian who are still in slumberland to wake up! Stop being manipulated and used!!!

Non-issues are being made into issues, one after another, by the corrupted, to distract us from the REAL ISSUES that are plaguing our beloved country.

The latest UBS Investment Research report showing our deteriorating reserves is just the tip of the iceberg of all real issues.

When their "semuanya ok" concept seemed too good to be true and started to be questioned by the people, they change their tactics a bit to include "ada juga yang tak ok" to look more realistic.

The "Kuil Hindu" relocation, Take "Beer" issue and "A****" word furore, are just some examples of non-issues being made into issues to cover up the real issues of murders, corruption, crime, sick economies, mismanagement, etc. etc..........

For how long more can the corrupted continue covering holes when the nation's wealth continues to grow thinner by the day? We certainly do not want to be surprised one fine morning like what Lehman Brothers and more recently Dubai did!!!

I see no reason why they will not get confuse, if a guy like him is representing the Islamic youth movement. Thats the future leader of Malaysia. The whole fucking problem is not about the court decision. There will be no court decision at all and everyone will live in peace provided the "fanatical group" did not decide to confiscate publications and demand that no one else can use the word Allah....so who started all these? Well the confused one started it. Majority of the uninformed and not well educated one who has been using the word Allah since the Arab introduced it in asia, are shock without realising that Allah is just an arab word for god. How not to be confused. They just refuse to accept it and pushing themselves into their own corner. Its just embarrassing. Unfortunately they don't think it that way. They rather think it is an insult and the word Allah belong to them. However the well educated muslim think otherwise. They are well informed and read alot....perhaps thats the reason why they end up with this hopeless one speaking confusingly for the youth movement.

One joker said" Allah is for Muslims not for other races." Heloooo! Muslims do not belong to one race. Arabs are Muslims. They don't have any problems with other religions using the word Allah.These idiots are speaking for some (not all certainly) Malays not ALL Muslims who belong to as many ethnic groups as there are in the world. The problem in this country is if one is a Muslim, one is "automatically" considered a Malay.I am a Muslim but I definitely am NOT a Malay ( no, not a convert) and I am not flattered at all , to put it mildly, when people assume I am a Malay just cos I am a Muslim and wear the headscarf. Remember, the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) was a Muslim and certainly was no Malay!
i remeber an asinine ex colleague ( who had studied in the US!!!!) once asked me why I could not speak Malay well when I was a Muslim. The prophet was a Muslim. Did he speak Malay?

Arab Christians use the word Allah. They also say InshaAllah, Alhamdulillah, MashaAllah. Do you see Arab Muslims Getting "confused"converting to Christianity in droves?

I notice that most of the interviewed muslims keep on mentioning "harmony". It's all lies. There is no true harmony; accept the truth. If we want real harmony, work it out and not just throwing the false fact that "we have lived in harmony until..."

Just who was the guy who brought up the use of the word Allah in Catholic papers into public or court? If it is true that Catholics/Christians have been using the word Allah for a century plus, then who brought this up should be scolded and not the general Catholic/Christian public.

Lets be fair. Check out 101East interview with ABIM president, Khalid Samad, Marina M., Khalid Samad was amazing skill wise compared to ABIM President. Those who don't remember, Anwar was better than anyone we have seen during his ABUM days and continue to be the most talented speaker. All these just prove the point its time for Malay Muslims to walk away from UMNO/BN and NEP system the way Khalid Samad and Anwar has walked away.

In peninsular, forbidding the use of the word “Allah” would have little impact on us. This is because most Christian in Peninsular use English. But in Sarawak and Sabah, it is totally different. Bahasa Malaysia is used mainly for their prayers and worship. Ever since Christianity was introduced to the indigenous of Sabah & Sarawak, Bahasa Malaysia was used for communication and worship between the Missions and the locals over there. Hence there are a few questions which I feel should be asked and pondered upon:-

1.Our literature (Prayer books, Activity books, Bibles, DVD’s, etc) in Bahasa Malaysia are mostly imported from Indonesia and Singapore which contains the word ‘Allah’. These literatures are now banned in Malaysia. How are we to teach our young in Sabah and Sarawak if literatures of references are not available for them? Isn’t this a form of oppressing freedom of religion?

2.Would we be able to set up publication houses and printing shops to print Christian literatures freely in Malaysia without the worry of our permits being cancelled anytime? Or any silly conditions being imposed? If yes, I do not see any problems for Christians in Malaysia to print our own literature without the use of the word ‘Allah’ for our Christians to use.

3. Now as it stands, The Herald isn’t allowed to print in the KadazanDusun Language. Why? In the KadazanDusun language, the word ‘Allah’ does not exist. ( A good example of a silly condition)

4.Looking at the bigger picture, why is this an issue? Is it because UMNO is trying to convert our brothers and sisters in Sabah and Sarawak so that the ratio would be more than the 60:40(Which I personally feel it is more like 50:50)

5.I grew up in a kampung which most of the villagers were paddy farmers. I know for a fact that the Malay Muslims in this country are people of peace. So to my Christian brethrens, try looking at the bigger picture and try not to blame our Muslim’s friends on the church attacks as its not their fault. It wasn’t any Muslim group which started this ‘Allah’ fiasco, It was started by an UMNO politician.

6.What we should be asking is, does the government has the right to impose conditions of worship on any religion in this country? Instead on asking why we are not allowed to use the word ‘Allah’?

With this being said I do hope that my friends in Sarawak & Sabah do not repeat the same mistakes which we had done in Peninsular. Its your land, make sure your people are in control. Stay strong to your faith and I pray the politicians in Sabah and Sarawak are not overcome by greed and power.

Did you see him sweating like a pig?
First time wearing a suit, huh, piggie pig pig?
Oink Oink...
Eat shit and die...
Or fuck off and live...
You'll never get laid now that every girl has seen your inarticulate face on tv...
So run little piggy run run...
Cuz your career now is all done done...

Was I watching Comedy Half Hour??? Cos that Khairul fella was sooooooo funny!!!! Poor Nick Clarke! But I find it very confusing ... Najib is PM, right? Head of GOVERNMENT, right? He has condemned the atrocities but has not withdrawn the GOVERNMENT's appeal against court decision ... is this what they mean by speaking in forked tongues???? I'm so sorry ... I'm truly confused now ...

Muslims do not dare think for themselves or rationalise the issue. They ‘hide’ behind what others say and justify this by saying that the ‘experts’ have made their ruling so let us go with what the experts have ruled.

And this has always been the problem with religion, all religions, for thousands of years. ‘They dare to be different’ is not the catch-phrase of religionists. ‘We follow without question’, is.

Ya Allah,
What an idiot this Kharol nut is. He read from a prepared text and go on and on articulating just few phases ie. to perserve harmony, be sensitive to Muslims, Allah is Muslim exclusive use and lastly, a subtle threat, if you want to have harmony and peace, u must basically listen and caved in to our demand i.e. don't use the Allah. He also reiterate over and over again, have a close door inter-faith discussion. Guess what in store for a close-door meeting, they will threaten the Christian's leaders with ISA if u don't agreed to our demand. What a shame, this idiot. He seems to have a bit of mental retardation, this is the byproduct of UMNO led education system.

I watched this from my hotel room after a hectic day of meetings and it gave me a headache just listening to the stupid rants and "can I stop there" comment from that idiot apanama khairul. So not satisfied with using brainless mat rempit to create trouble when needed, throwing molotov cocktail at churches, siphoning off money from us rakyat, pitting us against other races..now they are putting idiots in front of the whole world to see??? Bravo umno...bravo...

Desperate times call for desperate measures. UMNO is doomed. They will probably rot in hell for all the wrongs they have done. No amount of "repentance" could save them. We won't see them in heaven, most likely coz all of them will be downstairs. They can hide behind their smile, big cars, bigger titles but at the end of the day....their acts will catch up with them.

All your money and self-proclaimed power will buy you shit in hell.

yes, I am pissed!

Allah is the pronoun for the entity that is the Creator, the Sustainer, the Merciful etc etc.. so it is the ONLY name for the one God.

Islam being the finality of the Abrahamic religions we should realise that Allah is not exclusive to Muslims, it is the NAME of God for ALL mankind and ALL creation.

Thus if used in Churches etc, it must be specified that they are of the Christian faith and have not accepted the "final testament" which is the true word of Allah, the Quran.

So rather than fighting, Muslims should ensure that Allah is revered correctly!

The trajectory of the interview is telling of the increasingly tenuous position of the Semenanjung Malays globally; the pathetic and ignorant hand wringing becomes increasingly irrelevant to everyone except ourselves.

Like the show's host, the world will at first raise one incredulous eyebrow, and then start cutting us off in mid-sentence, and try to bring us on-topic in the conversation of civilizations.

And what a fine specimen of the Malay race, this saudara Khairul Faiz, who got up there to defend martabat bangsa and came armed only with pages of script and Malay groupthink.

Bravo!
