Proud to be Malaysian

This morning I sat over my coffee reflecting on what happened yesterday.

The church attacks, the demonstrations, the useless and provocative statements by fork-tongued politicians.

And I was proud to be Malaysian.

Malays, Chinese, Indians.

Muslim. Christian.Hindu. Buddhists.

All Malaysians came together as one and condemned the actions of those misguided arsonists and those who would try to instill hatred among us.

Najib, you want to know what is really 1Malaysia? You saw 1Malaysia in action yesterday. And no, none of it was the result of your constant sloganeering.

We all know and we have always known that we are ONE nation, ONE people.

It's time that you and your coalition partners know too.

NIAMAH!!!

One MALAYSIA is now in FRAGMENTS!!! Najis better do something before these fragments become smitherins!

We dont need anymore slogan and we are already 1 MALAYSIA since our Legendary P.Ramlee's days if not much earlier.

Dont waste the money to pay the PR firm for more slogans to come.

A Sincere Heart is the best slogan and it's free !

"raja kita selamat bertakhta"

this is the last line, missing from our national anthem as depicted above...

many of us are very SAD (sakit hati) seeing the situations happening in our beloved Malaysia.

In conclusion : Barisan National (BN) has FAILED to foster unity and harmony among the diverse Malaysians.

Nest election, we Malaysians (tak kira agama dan bangsa) shall boot BN OUT !

Patrick,

No-lah, 1Najib's 1Malaysial is very well alive and kicking. You have misunderstood his 1Malaysial because 1Malaysial actually refers to his 1DUMBO party.

The Malaysians (Malays, Chinese, Indians of various faiths) who condemned the church bombings are not the 1Malaysial. Ai-yah, this you also cannot grasp........you better change your coffee brand.

Patrick,
Well done ! Very well put.
If you look at Malaysians in general, we are really a very friendly and peace loving people. I may be Chinese, but, some of my best friends are Malays and Indians and I am quite sure that I count as one of their friends as well. If only the politicians would allow us to continue this way and not mess up the status quo. After 52 years of Independence, we're still talking race? We're still intolerant of our friend's religion?

thanks for reflecting the sentiments of the 'minority' rakyat, Patrick.

Like you too, I WAS proud to be Malaysian with friends from all races.
But as the seeds of hatred were sowed & are now in full bloom, the thin thread that used to bind us together in the Muhibbah spirit have since snapped. This incident is certainly the last straw!
To hell with those imbeciles!

Some umnoputras have insisted that Catholics should use "Tuhan" instead of "Allah" to address the Catholic or Christian God. But in the national anthem, "Tuhan" (not "Allah") bless the country (...Tuhan kurniakan...). How now ?!!!. If Malay-Muslims are that easily confused as portrayed by umnoputras, they must be thinking that Malaysia is blessed by the Catholic/Christian God, and the Muslim God "Allah" is perpetually on leave. Perhaps, this confusion may cause the government to change the national anthem by replacing "Tuhan" with "Allah". But then again, non-muslims will not be allowed to sing the national anthem. Then it would be non-muslims' turn to be confused. So much for "1 Malaysia"!!!. Helluva confusing !!!. NIAMAH !!!

The victims of the crime really show the 1 Malaysia's spirit by been forgiving. This is without prompting from any fork tongued politicians. On the other hand the violent gang of perpetrators of the crime are in a state of denial. To the guilty ones, it is the 1 Patan Spirit.

I have to remind many of you that unfortunately most of us in Peninsular Malaysia forget that we have our other brothers and sisters from Sabah and Sarawak that is the Bidayuhs, Ibans, Kadazana, Dusuns, Bajaus and many others. Sad thing (perhaps our ignorance) is that we always talk about Malays, Chinese and Indians.

All of those idiots can act much better than Hollywood actors. This year's Oscar's best film award should go to "1Malaysia" as well as all the top directors/ actors/supporting actors/special effects etc awards! Hollywood is missing a great deal on this debacle!

I'm sorry but to say that you are only 50% right. It is us, the Malaysians, that have yet to understand our PM's 1Malaysia.
1Malaysia means that all Malaysian must be patriotic (which u have correctly highlighted in this article) but the other half means that only the ruling govt (AMNO) will enjoy the majority piece of the cake!

Where will this stop? The BN gomen wants the christians to stop using the word Allah. What arab word will they prohibit us from using next - the words Amin, malaikat, rasul, Nabi, Wahyu, kitab and the names of the prophets in arabic/malay (Musa, Isa, Ibrahim, Daud, Yakub etc)?. This will render our AL Kitab (Malay Bible) banned! For everybody's information, this has actually already happened in Sabah through the fatwa of the Mufti of Sabah in 2003 (please refer to Sabah Govt Gazzette, 2003). Most of our people are still unaware of this. Everytime a church service is conducted in BM, we are already breaking the law of the country, making us criminals! Ridiculous isn't it?

How about the Iban bible which also uses the word Allah? Will it be banned too?

Will the Sikh's also be stopped from using the word Allah? Their Holy Book banned too?

Nevermine that the word "Allah" have been used by the BM speaking East Malaysian Christians since time immemorial and also by other christians in our neighbouring countries?. Are we to stop using the word "Allah" in order for the sake of pacifying some unreasonable, ignorant and extremely selfish countrymen of ours who wants to claim total ownership of an arab word for god?

Where will this stop? So much for 1Malaysia. More like 1Malaysia all for UMNO!

Cheers, Tonut

If you do not exercise your vote wisely in the next GE, you are not doing your next generation a favor when Mlaysia follows the path of Filipines and Indonesia.

Salaam...I'm a malaysian (malay-muslim woman), my best friend is malaysian (indian-christian), my god-son is a malaysian (chinese-buddhist). I don't believe in Naib's crap of 1Malaysia.
When I was a child, we live in a malay kampong surrounded by chinese farmers. My house was filled with my brothers' friends who were chinese and indians, they eat my mum's cooking, we will be sitting by the stove before chinese new year at our chinese neighbour's house waiting for kuih bakul. During deepavalli we will munching muruku whole day long at our indian neighbour's house. We follow the chinese funeral procession - at least we thought the bands were entertaining. When I was sick, my mum always took me to the free clinic ran by the catholic nuns. Neither my mum nor any of us converted to christianity because of our interaction with the nuns.
That was more than 40 years ago. WE ARE MALAYSIANS before UMNO (Baru) starts screaming ketuanan melayu. We don't need slogans, we need affirmative actions.

Negaraku made no reference to umno.

So they do not have the divine right to rule forever.

Please exercise your vote wisely in the next GE without fear.

If you are good enough, do not talk about affirmative action. Ditch your NEP tongkat.

Easy to talk but still the same that forever dependent on subsidy.

So which Islam are Malaysian Muslims practising - "apple" Islam or "orange" Islam? Muslims all over the world are okay with non-Muslims using the term 'Allah', except in Malaysia. Maybe it's a Barisan Nasional brand of Islam that we practise. Funny thing is, it's okay to use the term in speech, but not in print. What logic?

So I guess they are going to have another national anthem for the muslims with allah rather then tuhan. Also another rukun negara too. Mmmmm.... not only are we second class citizens we get our own national anathema too. One of these days we Chinese and Indians will have separate coaches on trains/buses, separate swimming pools,.......Where will this train stop?
