Stupid!

One tier for you. One tear for me.

I read in The Malaysian Insider today that the government has decided to scrap the tiered fuel subsidy system proposed to begin on May 1, 2010. And according to the report the government ...

"quietly (scrapped) the proposed tiered fuel subsidies scheduled for May 1 due to its complexity"
.

Right from the start almost every Malaysian and many foreigners watching knew that the multi-tiered system was too complicated and almost impossible to implement and police. But no they wouldn't listen these YB's who always know better than us ordinary folks.

Sure work one. Use your MY card. Register to get subsidy for one car. And then you foreigners can only buy 20 litres within 50 km of the borders. Ha!

One Singapore taxi driver told me that he drives his private car to JB to fill up. 20 litres at this station, another 20 at another. My car is small so I visit 2 or 3 petrol stations and Kao tim! No problem one la brother, he said.

NO IT WON'T WORK, we said.
YES IT WILL WORK AND WE START MAY 1, they answered.

And now with tails between their legs the YB's 'quietly' scrap the system. Actually, they never even really told us how the tiered system was going to function. Did they? I hope that the people who first came up with this hare-brained idea are feeling really stupid now. Oh wait. To feel stupid you need to be have intelligence first. Sorry.

NIAMAH!!!

The consolation is that they have decided not to implement first then stop it. Until today, the problems of overspeesing heavy vehicles still cannot be solved. First it was the beacon light that lights up when the vehicle exceeds the speed limit, then it was some "black box".

The whipping of women under syariah criminal offences legislation has created controversy for a variety of reasons, including for contradicting civil law where women are not punishable by caning under Section 289 of Criminal Procedure Code.

Malays, especially women, are migrating and leaving their homeland, not because they don’t have opportunities here but because as Muslims, their personal freedom is restricted – and there is danger that it will be curtailed even more.

Right-thinking Malaysians are gravely concerned at the rise of intolerance and bigotry under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia and Najib must give this disturbing trend his personal attention if Malaysia is not to be the frequent focus of adverse international attention and be a loser in the international competition for talents.

Is Malaysia’s plural society under Najib’s 1Malaysia moving towards greater openness, tolerance and liberalism or retreating into the shell of greater intolerance, bigotry and extremism?

Every time a new proposal is made, it is often tainted with vested interests trying to take advantage to screw more profits from a hapless Rakyat. Another scheme is the so-called seminars for employers of maids. Corruption is the main reason why so many hare-brained ideas have been proposed by seemingly intelligent people in government. Thats also why they are being rejected by more people as the days go by. If no change in mindset amongst the ruling elite is forthcoming, I'm afraid their days are truly numbered.

It seems that under Najib regime, he flips-flops even more than Pak Lah. Najib is coming to his 1st year anniversary in power and he has flipped flopped on a number of issues as follows:
1. The change of medium of instruction from English to Malay for the teaching of science and maths- it was initially proposed that it will be implemented on 2012. Thus, students who started in year 2003, would the experience the switch upon reaching form 4 in 2012. So, the student would learn Science and Maths in Malay for form 4 and 5 but English again in form six and tertiary level. Isn’t that silly? After much public uproar, they agreed that the current batch can continue in English.

2. Implementation of RPGT- a flat 5% tax will be levied on property gains regardless of the holding period. Hence, a house buyer who bought a house in Bangsar in 1970 costs only Rm30k and sold it for Rm1m in 2010 has to pay a whopping Rm48.5k in tax alone! After much public outcry, it has been decided that it would not apply for properties held more than 5 years.

These are among many other issues that clearly shows that the Najib administration do not think thoroughly before implementing any policies. The restriction on foreign vehicles on petrol purchase is another classic example. On top of it, there is also a lot of controversy with regards to the implementation of GST.

But does Najib really think thoroughly about all these policies from various angles before implementing it? I doubt it. Instead, there is so much hype of this 1Malaysia concept of his that is nothing but a marketing gimmick. It is indeed ridiculous to implement policies only to draw flak from the public. It is a PR disaster. He is 1FOOL of Malaysia.

Saddest part and definitely not surprising is that the self proclaimed brilliant 1PM was led by his nose. What an ar**ho** of a PM.

Umno/BN's way of mismanaging the economy has made its cronies rich -the IPPs (independent power producers) is a classic example.

Why doesn't the government call for open tenders for its contracts and concessions? Isn't money the issue behind the reason to call for the removal of subsidies? Government funds have been abused every year as stated in the auditor-general's report.

Some Umno people even admitted the auditor-general's 2008 report was still being perused (what?). I wonder which report contains the RM500 million submarine purchase commission. Will that be investigated? No way. They will keep on spending while telling the rakyat to tighten their belts.

Why the need for electricity tariff hikes? Every time TNB asks the government for a hike, the government approves it. Even now, the rate is so high that I have pay more than RM100 for my TNB bill. The last time they increase electricity tariff was when the petrol was RM2.70 per litre, but now it is RM1.80.

What really goats me even more is the line "the idea to give fuel subsidy to deserving people is good.."

The truth is you can't subsidies fuel for too long. It never works. The reason is because its a very tradeable commodity that has too many uses and none of it is life or death situation. You can't define 'deserving people'.

That is why no system will actually work properly. All system are temporarily effective.. Its classic 'You can't run away from the free market'.

Why must sugar price go up, when new management take over and not before the take over? Someone cannot make extra income earlier right or not?

Why burden entire rakyat with GST yet only less than 20% of the rakyat pays taxes? BN government no money oledi right?

Why the rakyat pays more for our local car (Proton) with less specs compare to those (Proton) export model? Then tax other brand kaw kaw so Proton looks very cheap locally?

Why we need submarine in our Malaysian waters? To protect who or attack what in the future? All the pirates or our neighboring countries. 10 yrs to 15 yrs in future obsolete, tak boleh pakai just like the MIG 29s (now to expansive to maintain) Then why it wasn't negotiated properly back then for Maintenance prices before we purchase the MIGs.

"Each MiG also needed to undergo preventive and restoration work which cost RM10mil and RM7mil [$2-3 million] for engine overhaul every year after it completed a flight time of between 1,000 hours and 4,000 hours, he said. Zahid said the cost of maintaining the MiGs was also high as the jets needed to be sent to Russia for overhaul.”
Why wasn't this issue debated during the negotiation of purchase?

Do we need all this fighters and submarine here and now? Why buy 2 or more model/type fighter planes that causes many parts, maintenance, human resource and training redundancy?

So rakyat Malaysia, please understand that my comments maybe bias and stupid but please, please think it for awhile or sleep thru it over the weekend and ask yourself truly what will or may be the answers?

It has become increasingly impossible to satisfy the greed of every Umnoputra since 1969. So when jealousy comes in, the politics will splinter. Then there are the minorities in Peninsular Malaysia and in Sabah and Sarawak. They want their place in the sun and will be wooed by one Malay faction against another.

These are all factors that will prevent Najib from projecting himself as another dictator. The old Umno politics of twisting and turning every issue into a them-versus-us issue will no longer work. The Malays didn't take the bait when Umno twisted the 'Allah' issue into a racial issue.

Since 1998, the Barisan Nasional government has implemented only one economic policy ie increasing public expenditure (most of the time unnecessarily through massive projects that were subjected to leakages and inflated costs) to make up for the dramatic decrease in private spending.

Trumpeting a 5 per cent growth for 2010 is disingenuous at best. What the Prime Minister does not say to the people is that even if our economy grows by 5 per cent, Malaysia will continue to fall behind Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and even Vietnam in 2010.

The latest economic forecast by IMF published in October 2009 shows that in 2010, Malaysia is expected to perform the worst among all these countries even as the world economy shows signs of recovery. Vietnam is expected to double our growth rate while the rest will outpace Malaysia by an average of 50%.

Ask Ibrahim Ali how much the government gave him since the 1980s. In the 1970s when I was already fighting for the Malays he was still a student. Ask Ibrahim Ali to total up everything the government gave him the last 30 years or so. That figure should come to at least RM200 million-RM300 million.

How much does Ibrahim Ali still have left? Can he even find RM1 million in his bank account? Where did all that hundreds of millions go? Yes, ask Ibrahim Ali to ask himself all these questions. Then he will understand what happened to the Malays. What happened to the Malays is exactly what happened to him. He sold off everything and spent all the money just like those other Malays. And now he blames the Chinese because he is broke.
