Money down the drain? Or into pockets?

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Defence Minister with RM11billion for new toys

In recent months we have all heard the government moaning about how subsidies cost the country much-needed money for development, eradication of poverty, schools, hospitals, public transportation. And so they withdraw some subsidies so that money can be saved for more urgent needs of the Rakyat. So we pay more for shitty petrol, electricity, water and God knows what else.

And then..................

The Malaysian government is expected to sign defence contracts worth more than RM11 billion at DSA 2010, Asia’s largest defence and security exhibition, which will be held here (Singapore) from April 19 to 22, according to Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
(The Edge, Tuesday March 23, 2010)

So, we're going to buy more jet fighters, guns, submarines and God knows what else. And for what? To defend ourselves from what, whom? Don't we already have a non-sub-marine submarine? Are we still in the business of supplying South American air forces?

Pat, you are one ignoramus, of course to defend against Singapore la! Don't tell me my-maid's-country or Patpong will attack us!?!?

Hmmm...drains or pockets???

Honestly speaking, spending on the defence and security of any sovereign country is a necessity. BUT by looking at the fact that the nation's precious resources have fallen into the wrong hand, the intended purpose may not be achieved at all.

So, i would say: Pockets 70%; Drains 20% and the balance 10% Show-Off Piece.

They need more $$$ as the demand for submarine and helicopters are up. They have jets already.

They need more guns as they are at war with the PR.

just in case our political system doesn't play out right, probably we'll have an army take over..

Pat, what to do?? This is Bochorland, after all.

I wonder what crap are they going to add to our collection of "arsenal". We already got planes that can't fly, subs that can't sink, ships that can't float & APCs that are not road-worthy (I bet most folks forgot about that issue).

BENDERA Indonesia weren't talking crap when they said they can conquer Malaysia just by using sharpened bamboos & machetes ;)

Anonymous said...

Maybe, they will buy a stealth jet which is not stealth. Or jet which cannot fly, or a missile which cannot explode, or a gun which cannot shoot or ship which cannot float.

But you know what? Malaysia is good that even then our security would not be compromised just like our unsinkable submarine.

BTW, any of the money going to be spend to replenish the C4?

Yes ! To buy more submarines which cannot go into the sea, to buy more jet fighters with missing engines and more guns without bullets ! These are what our country needs !

There can be only 2 reasons to spend the RM11b lah:
1)Najib always have his eyes on big defence budget! U tau la.
2)Every new PM must be garang and spend during term of office.Tak boleh kala to Bodowi and Mamak mah!
Rakyat woes etc.etc.can wait la.

The government has not been able to identify the 'threat' to our national security ever since chin Peng gave up the CPM struggle (and being betrayed along the way).

Spending the rakyat's money is needed to keep the 'middlemen' alive. Without the injection of money, these middlemen will mengamuk.

Is this the 3rd force Musa refers to?

The Mother of all Embarrassment to the Malay polity is that despite all of the plans and policies implemented since Independence till today, the success rate of Malay involvement and participation in the wealth creation and distribution theatres (the main target of these plans) as been so dismally low; from one percent in 1959 to a most ridiculous three percent to date, plus 16 percent achieved by trusts and funds, making a paltry 19 percent. This is sacrilege, a huge blow to the Malay mertabat!

Would NEM be another failure? Surely Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak (right), the NEM architect, would not want that.

We will see more froggies end of the year. RM1b will be used to buy frogs.

Half of them to buy weapons that we don't need. Or maybe 1Malaysia will be the 1st Asian country with Star Wars technology, the Angkasawan can be our 5-Stars General for the project back in Negri9.

The remaining $$ can be used for coming election.

THIS IS FUCKED UP!!!!!

Malaysia needs more weapons to defend against the 'pendatangs' cause it seems that part of the armed forces job nowadays is to assist in the curbing of 'pendatangs' into the country even tho' it is not their job as quoted by the right honorable defense minister (maybe my hearing was out of whack that night during the broadcast). Now it made sense to me when the submarine was intended to be used for survey purposes only! NUMBNUTS!

This is another excuse to pocket some more of Malaysia's wealth by the ministers and might I add in telephone numbers.
Otherwise what excuse can they use to take the money to start a bank ?

Who said we do not need to beef up our defence. Even TDM was so scared of US technology (I mean film technology... if they can make Avatar they can do anything). So we must be prepared for anything.... who knows "Aliens" may come and attack. Now we need to shop for some weapons against the "Aliens" just in case. Of course it would be expensive as we need to pay an agent some commission to buy us the necessary weapons.

Ayep Sepa said... .. Pat!!! OMG, you should look at this link!!!!!! “So there’ll be more lights turned off. KL alone would be engulfed in darkness. Yes, sure, it may seem fun to some, running around in complete darkness. But that also means TNB would get less money. Tell me, what am I supposed to say to the kids of this electrical technician when we can’t give bonus this year?” asked Che Khalib... i am 'traumatized' by this statement, weih!!!! FCUKING NIAMAH!!!

The DUMB Assshole Defence Minister probably thinks Malaysia is at WAR with Singapore, Thailand or Indonesia. That's why we need so many arms. Or This Dumbass Minister wants to use the arms on Malaysians who do not agree with him?

It is cheaper than another PKFZ. This money will be better use if it is use to link all major Housing Garden by Light Reail Transit system, even if they are not profitable. At least the rakyat can benefit.

RM4b for new submarine

Message for Hump-Sup Chua S.L.:

You want to be a 'leader who will speak against the keris-wielding episode by Umno'. Why don't you speak up now against the likes of Nasir Safar, Awang Selamat, Perkasa, Ridhuan Tee?

What about making some noise on the Teoh Beng Hock case or the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal? I mean, if you want to pull the wool over the eyes of some MCA suckers, be my guest. But you ain't foolin' anybody else.

You are - just like the rest of MCA - are forever going to be the bag boys for Umno. Remember when you were once hinted that Pakatan Rakyat was interested in you - when Ong Tee Keat didn't give you a cabinet post. That was until Najib stepped in and gave you some sorry post in BN. You're really no different than the average Umno politician. The only difference is your name is Chua instead of Ali or Ahmad.

No spending,no commission! Simple as that.Come to think of it, why spend so much (RM11B)? Do we really need that much for our defence or is it an arm race to show of? Are these expenses being debated and approved in the Parliment?

RM11b = RM11,000 million

Just distribute to each kampung RM1m and this will benefits 11,000 kampung all over malaysia. Use it for to build community service centres, parks, halls and organize events for the rakyat. I'm sure BN will get extra votes from rakyat in next election.

But this stupid ppl will not do that la. RM1m for each kampung? half already masuk pocket and they will ask contractors to building rm2million things using rm500,000.
That's where we get collapsing roofs, collapsing bridges, cracked walls and cracked flyovers....

Yet again, Malaysians are misled with false promises. For months there was so much hype to the Government’s initiative to provide cheaper, affordable and yet very fast broadband.

Yesterday, it came as a shock to Malaysians that the so called affordable and fast broadband service starts at RM149 and ranges up to RM249. To many Malaysians, this sum is a huge commitment. Many were expecting prices from RM50 onwards.

To make matters worse, the Star reported today that in Singapore, one could get 1Gbps for RM200. Mind you, RM200 to a Singaporean is small money. Don’t just convert, see the GDP per capita. Most Singaporeans are earning 5 times more than Malaysians as Malaysia has one of the lowest GDP per capita in the region.

Thus RM200 for a 1Gbps line is small change to a Singaporean. But our mere 5Mbps at RM149 is big money to the average Malaysian. To some, its money to feed the whole family for a whole week.

Aiyah, All this RM11b spending is a desperate attempt to try to woo World Class manufacturers to come to the show la.Currently, the big guys are not interested as most of Malaysian defence spending always go to their own 'kakis'

From The Star online.

Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali, in his opening speech, hit out at the Pakatan Rakyat for dividing the Malays and for failing to defend Islam.

Please tell this fler, we are Malaysian living in Malaysia and PR is a party for all races. Not just the malays. We should time travel him back to ancient time living with dinosaurs.

Niamah statement of the week:

“I ask that if people want to accuse, make accusations that have basis, don’t be unfair,” Dr Mahathir told the Perkasa faithful.

“I am not racist, I love my country, we are not racists ... if we cannot be fair to the Malays, then we cannot be fair to other races,” he had said.

Dr Mahathir said: “If I am wrong, prove it to me, prove it to others.”

Perkasa condemned the following:
- Anwar (for the usual)
- Khairy (“newly hatched politician”! – haha)
- DAP (‘Malaysian Malaysia’ concept)
Malaysiakini (allegedly disuniting the Malays)
- Malaysian Insider (ditto)
- Liberal Malay bloggers
“A group of extremist people”
- Pas (allegedly failing to protect Islam)
- Saifuddin (alleged contempt of court)

Patrick, you are spared!

Mahathir is playing a dangerous game with perkasa. He is nurturing a monster without knowing how much damage it will cause Malaysia.

I am trying very hard now to envision what will be in the next few years.

I love my country, but circumstance is pushing me towards another location.

I would really feel bad if I were Marina.
