It's a mad, mad, mad, mad, mad, mad world

Judging from the angle at which this photo was taken the photograher, if Muslim, can be charged for going against Islamic teachings. No?

If you need proof that our country is going absolutely bonkers go read this in The Malaysian Insider.......................

http://my-1.themalaysianinsider.com/index.php/malaysia/58803-muslim-scholars-welcome-warriors-day-change

And as if to rub it in further former army field commander retired, Lt-Gen Zaini Mohamad Said said "......there is some truth in it being unIslamic"...... and that....."Moving the ceremony is obviously for the better, I am quite sure it is for the better and will satisfy our multi-religious society".

According to a 1995 religious ruling, the playing of “The Last Post” and “The Rouse”, observing one minute's silence with heads bowed, laying of wreaths, reading of poetry and singing before a sculptured monument are in conflict with Islamic teachings

This is INSANE!!!

I suggest the monument be broken down and sold as scrap. In it's place we could have a swimming pool or a row of toilets for public use. That way everyone is happy. If only these mullahs imaginations could be put to better use muslims would be more creative and innovative and need not rely on the west for all the gadgets they use everyday.

Malaysia is no longer secular.

Those people who are so creative in interpreting religion should channel the effort to eradicate corruption which is the true religious ills in our country.

All countries in the region are moving forward and yet we are moving backwards but believing that we are moving the fastest.

I don't care if they move the Warriors Day ceremony to Tg Rambutan or Putrajaya but don't make Malaysia like a stupid country just because we have a few fools.

If you're only referring to the sentence in bold red, then yes I do see your point. It's highly ridiculous.

But you seemed to label all as insane, including the ruling. I'm certain you're not familiar with details in Koran & Hadith. It's wiser to keep the ignorance to yourself. If there was such a ruling then in how on earth would it have affected you or other non-Muslims? It was only meant for Muslims, back then and now.

You didn't bother to explain your 'Insane' labelling at all. That's a very risky remark, Patrick. The way I see it, you're just mocking Muslims for their faith.

Then why does all GOVT departments still have the Agung and PM photos??? Is it Islamic?

Forgive me for my ignorance...

So they want to turn this country into an Islamic sate. After so many years only now they said this cannot, that cannot.Pls lah,go and mind your own religion for your own race. The country business let it to the government to manage.

Errrr..excuse me but since when does the Fatwa Council determine and tell the Government and in this case everybody, what to do. The National Monument has NOTHING to do with religion. It is to honour the fallen. Or are you telling me that since eons ago all bigwigs have been glorifying the dead like some higher beings?. Just for sake of argument, isn't going to the grave site and praying for the dead during raya also against Islamic teachings...no? or not in the same context. Stupid me, I forgot this is BOLEH LAND ...no set of rules apply in 'other' cases. So let us warn vising dignitaries that if you are Muslim, please don't bestow honor to the fallen at the National monument cause you can do it elsewhere in accordance to Islamic teaching as practiced in Malaysia and you are insulting us by doing so!!!! Take a bloody consensus on the matter and let the people decide on this and not the other way around. Want to challenge me on that? Let's put it to the vote on GE13. Well...any takers, NUMBNUTS?!?!?!?!

For whatever reasons they want to move the warrior's day thingy to putraJ or brand it idol worshiping etc etc.. I m astounded by the two retired(or retarded)gentlemen both high ranking at that... They have probably forgotten what comradeship means...... I m an ex-serviceman myself...it was NEVER about religion in the service...IT WAS ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL....HOW SAD....

Erase national monument 'cos it's non-Malay just like Hang Tuah, Hang Lekiu, Hang Jebat, Hang Li Po got erased from history book. I think the keris is also dari-Cina lah. Also erase national anthem Negaraku since it's Mamula Moon. 1Malaysia niamah hai!

Anonymous said...

Silat was brought in from China by Hang Tuah, and was originally known as Pak-Kua, so better erase too.

Anonymous said...

While they're at it, better also erase all english-influenced words from Bahasa Malaysia.

Anonymous said...

Also erase all Malay songs that doesn't sound Malay, like those heavy metal, hip-hop and so on. Also green angpows must be banned 'cos it's not original Malay culture.

Ignorance is the trumpcard of the ignorant. Stupidity is their clothes they wear. Greed is the food they crave. Extremities is their way of life. Hate is their daily beverage.

The world may be a scented place as heaven and they will still have the propensity to make it a living hell.

I pity these people quagmired in ignorance and devoid of introspection for change to better themselves.

"This is INSANE!!!"

I take offence with the statement. What do you mean insane ? Muslims ? The fatwa council ? The Government ? The whole situation of the government following the ruling of the fatwa council ?

What's wrong with Muslims want to follow the ruling of the fatwa council ? After all, it's the Muslims that have to follow the ruling, not the others. Even Lim Kit Siang is smart enough not to touch this issue. Obviously you are not cunning or smart enough as him. Or maybe you're just plain oblivious.

The fatwa council has stated its point ever since the independence, that observing Warrior's Day at places like the National Monument is against the teaching of Islam. They are only renewing their call on the issue to the government.

Blame the previous administrations for making you accustomed with the thought of Warrior's Day celebration must be held at the National Monument, whereas it shouldn't have been celebrated there in the first place.

Ultimately, it's the government call whether or not to follow the ruling. If you have any grievances with the government's decision, well, you have to live with it. Furthermore, the government didn't say anything about the non-muslims cannot celebrate Warriors Day at the National Monument, nor did it say anything about tearing the statues down. You can still very much celebrate Warriors Day there if you want to, but I don't think that you celebrate it anyway. I think it's just your knack making a big fuss out of nothing.

For you to go against the building of the proposed Warriors Square, read this so that you can have a little thought about it. Think about the warriors who have fallen since before the independence. Think of those who were Muslims. Is it fair for them to be remembered in a way that's against the teaching of their OWN religion ? If you say yes, well, you are definitely, grossly chauvinistic. I think they would rather not be remembered if the remembrance ceremony is held against the teaching of their faith. The celebration of Warriors Day in the proposed Warriors Square would be fair, as both our muslim and non-muslim fallen heroes could be remembered as it would not go against the teachings of any religions. It’s not that the Warriors Day celebration is a religious ceremony anyway, apart from one minute fact that it is usually started with a doa as to have the celebration and the souls of the departed heroes blessed by Allah. But if you are offended by that, maybe you shouldn’t go to the celebration or any government-organized function, because usually all of them are started with a doa, or muslim prayers, if you must know.

Actually, I’m perplexed as to why you bring up this issue in the first place. Why Patrick ? This is only a minor issue. It’s not something that should be blown out of proportion. What you do here is actually inciting religious and racial hatred. You’ve lived long enough to know that you abhor animosity amongst the people of Malaysia, correct ? Yet, what you’ve written shows your immaturity. Or maybe you’re just playing oblivious for reasons known only to you and to god. My advice Patrick, don’t write about something if you don’t know any better. Staying quiet is a whole lot better.

I think these small groups of people are just bored who's got absolutely nothing better to do.

Worshiping idols? I mean c'mon! The statues are just there as a symbol. Why interpret it as worshiping idols that's just silly.

from what I see, there are 2 possibilities:

1) the bunch of people who even put this to note are actually schemers, putting religion yet again in the front line. Prolly involves money. Let's see how much the cost of the new warrior's square at putrajaya's gonna turn out.

2) They have extremely weak faith. It goes back to basics, if your resolve is strong, you stick to your principles. You do not go blame every single thing on a 3rd party. Just like the whole 'A' case (Pardon me for not spelling the full word, it is after all exclusive to them), instill teachings to strong teachings into your youths, why worry about other religions confusing your own people by using the word. >.< Same goes for this, you are saluting/praying in that area, why must you think you are doing it to the statue? As long as you know you are not, He would know.

I am not at all associated to any religion, so I don't speak on any's behalf. This is just general common sense.

There are many other issues to worry about in this country. Particularly the evils of people and the damage they are causing to the country. We should all channel our energy to stamp that out and make the place better for all its inhabitants, not something as trivial as this.

Those who are not conversant about Islam, please refrain from saying anything on issues pertinent to the religion, for I'm afraid it would only show your gross ignorance and lack of understanding about the faith. Muslims included.

Thank you.
