You sure or not

Najib Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia at the Singapore Foreign Correspondents Gala Dinner........

We don’t want rent seekers and the politics of patronage in our economy. I committed to that and it is dangerous because they are politically connected......

But we have to help the Bumiputeras who need help, the Sarawakians, the Sabahans and the Orang Asli. Not just the Malays......

Every single Malaysian who is poor and vulnerable must be helped. If you are earning less than RM1,500 a month, you must be helped and it does not matter if you are Chinese, Indian or Malay.

NIAMAH!!!

Hey Najib, UMNO/BN has been given 52 years to help the poor and the needy but it ended up only UMNO/BN 'sapu' all the wealth !!

if i am to list out all the misdoing/corruption, it will take me a year 24/7 to do it.

The fact that he made this statement in a foreign land instead of Malaysian soil leaves a shadow over any well-meaning commitment.

That said, if this is his commitment, then I would say, that's the way to go Mr. PM! Now, he has to go beyond rhetorics and into visible and measurable actions, if he is ever to convince the Malaysian people.

The very fact that we still have hardcore poor (especially the malays) is a clear evidence that BN has failed.

How to have hardcore poor malays when BSN is giving so much bonus and dividends?

BN gave fish to the malays but did not teach them how to fish.

Now Najib wanted to increase our earnings 2-fold in 10 years. You think the foreign journalists are budak sekolah rendah?

I saw the speech live on Channel News Asia. Sounds great but I could borrow the perkasa words DON'T TALK SHIT!!!

Anonymous said...

Talk is cheap!

RM6 billion can become RM6 million overnight.

How to trust?

I think the journalists in Singapore are not easily fooled, if they have been following this blog.

our pm very good and smart one. in front of the world, he speaks like a great reformist but in front of perkasa, he speaks like a malay apologist. double headed la. normal la, politician like that one.

Malaysians are fed up with being continually bombarded and harangued by Najib on his slogan the significance of which he is not sure about. To the millions of us preoccupied with making ends meet on a daily basis in Najib’s economic haven, 1Malaysia cannot be disguised as anything but what it is; a hellishly wasteful and hollow symbol by any reckoning.

Utusan and the rest of the Umno-controlled 'mainstream' media are finding that it is becoming nearly impossible to peddle their lies to the public, and are suffering from falling circulation, revenues and a complete loss of credibility.

Utusan Malaysia should bear the words 'Untuk Ahli Umno Sahaja' (For Umno members only), like the papers of other political parties such as Harakah, The Rocket and Suara Keadilan.

Isn't it clear as daylight that Utusan is shirking its responsibility as a newspaper for the rakyat as it is incredibly partial to Umno? Its top editor attends a BN convention and suggests ways to attack political parties opposed to the BN (we can't call them the opposition as the convention was held in Selangor where BN is the opposition).

Pos Malaysia 2x the postage from 30 sen to 60 sen.

Salary to go up 2X
And prices will go up 4X
That's infation, not NEM

We should be helping the poor malaysians, not by race. All working adults irregardless of race pay their taxes at the same rates, how come one is deprived of the priviledges than the others? Take education scholarship for eg. Students who excel are to be treated by race again to earn the scholarships. How come my grandfather's contributions to income tax does not benefit his grandchildren who excelled in public exam? 1 Malaysia, huh ???
What's the pm stand on all these so-called sacrifices by the malays for the non-malays? These "leaders" are v v v immatured.

Really taken "that" long to realize that they also have to help "ALL" Malaysians........!

I wonder why every April everyone is still paying income tax to the government. Our money is hard to earn, yet our tax money is thrown down the drain and given to a selected group who are politically connected through some over-price projects.

It is fraud and wastage in government spending that makes me hate to pay income tax. I hate to feel cheated, lied to and treated like a fool. The myProcurement portal at least now gives something back by way of entertainment. So many decimal points in procurement contracts get misplaced when figures are made transparent.

The definition of Malay in the constitution is accepted by all Malaysians. My contention is the dilution of the term 'Malay' vis-a-vis the non-Malays, which I get very upset about and feel is totally unfair.

Mohd Khir Toyo's father was an immigrant, while my grandparents migrated here 200 years ago. Who is more Malaysian - Khir Toyo or me?

Look at Sabah and Sarawak on the number of illegal immigrants there who have been granted citizenship, whilst non-Malays with red ICs and foreign spouses of Malaysians have to wait till kingdom come before they are accorded citizenship.

Identity is ours to define, not for others to dictate (this include what is Malay, or Chineseness, or how an Indian must act, and so on).

However, race is an artificial concept invented by society. Granted it has some roots in a biological-anthropological context, but that's about all it has in common with genetics. For example, in Malaysian race, is most often defined as being either Melayu, Cina, India, or - and this is my personal favourite - lain-lain.

In the US, you're either black (the whole of Africa), white (the whole of Europe), Asian (it doesn't matter whether he/she is Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai or Filipino - they all look the same anyway), Latino (again people from 'the rest' of the Americas).

Even if Prime Minister Najib Razak had the infantry, he doesn't have the generals. His second-in-command has been saying the exact opposite to what he says from day 1 of his reign. The latest gem, 'I'm Malay first', from Muhyiddin Yassin has prodded Najib to quickly scramble to support his deputy instead of enjoying unquestioned support from his deputy.

Najib is definitely in a lousy position - he has his battle formations all lined-up but he cannot be absolutely sure his infantry will respond to his orders and be with him as he marches forward. Moreover, he doesn't really know if his generals are with him.

Najib's own field marshall walks behind him with a keris to his back, seemingly for Najib's protection but if Najib so much as goes further with his 1Malaysia 'nonsense', he will be impaled with the keris.

As it is playing out, it does seem like Najib's 1Malaysia is being slowly moved into a checkmate position by his field marshal, who will then simply take over.

Muhyiddin is one of over four dozen children of a village alim with multiple wives. It would be unlikely for his father to even remember Muhyiddin’s name, much less his birthday. In dynamics, young Muhyiddin had essentially a fatherless childhood. He attended the village school and later a small town high school, before proceeding to the local university.

The wives they have chosen too are very different. Najib’s current wife, his second, is the poster girl for extravagance and vulgarity, a Malaysian Imelda Marcos, except that Imelda had a weakness only for shoes. Muhyiddin’s wife is the typical kampong girl; she views her job as being to be by his side; to be seen but never heard.

It is easy to imagine Rosmah being actively engaged in her husband’s business. I cannot even contemplate Muhyiddin seriously engaging his wife in serious matters. He is the typical alpha kampong male; he knows what is best and his word rules.

Their seven-year age difference means that Muhyiddin could not possibly succeed Najib in the usual transition process. Muhyiddin is the older, so by the time Najib retires, Muhyiddin would be too old to take over.

The only conceivable way for him to get the top slot would be if Najib’s tenure were to be prematurely cut short, by unexpected death or sordid scandals. Both are not remote possibilities. Najib’s father died in his early 50s from leukaemia, and that malady remains lethal even today. As a timely reminder, many a Third World leader had succumbed to fatal “accidents”.

Scandals would be the more likely career killer for Najib. He certainly has some nasty ones hanging over him, from the brutal murder of the Mongolian model to his admitted conversations with Anwar Ibrahim’s alleged sodomy victim. Then there are the steady streams of squalid incompetence during his tenure as Defence Minister, from stolen jet engines to newly-acquired submarines that would not dive.

Anonymous said...

According to MyProcurement, the Defence Ministry granted a whopping RM27.5 million contract to supply women's shoes for civil servants.

I am just astounded by what the DPM has said about the interfaith panel in the PM's Department. So the panel was set up to be just a "small fry" with no sincerity at all to improve understanding and tolerance among people of different religions. And to rub salt into the wound, the government admits that it knew very well that the panel will not serve any purpose and is absolutely useless.

Time and again, the BN government's '1Malaysia' propaganda seems nothing but a joke. With such insincerity and gimmicks, I do not think that it will ever be able to fully regain the trust and respect of the Chinese and Indians.

I am now convinced that the National Unity and Integration Department itself overseeing the committee is a complete farce and was also set up to be just another 'small fry'. If Koh Tsu Koon has any dignity at all, he should throw away his ministership in the PM's Department without second thought and 'save' his face.
