Fantastic Fact and Funny

Award for promoting ICT? Was this a deal of some sort too?

This is really funny. I learned today that Najib Razak has been given the ITU World Telecommunication and Information Society Award for his "efforts to promote ICT as a means of providing a better lifestyle for Malaysians." I saw this full-paged advertisement congratulating him on the award. I had just had breakfast and I didn't know if I wanted to laugh hysterically or just throw up my scrambled eggs and toast.

Okay, I tell you why. And this is just ONE of the reasons. I am very sure that you will have dozens of reasons of your own to want to nail TM to the wall.

My wife applied for a fixed line telephone and Streamyx service yesterday at a Kedai TM. She was told that her fixed-line phone service would take 1 week to activate. Streamyx will take 2 weeks!!! Huh? Exactly! I mean this is 2010. One week to get a phone line and 2 weeks to get Streamyx? What does TM have to do? Dig trenches and lay cables? Do some re-wiring so my wife's shop can get a line in? What?

Promote ICT as a means of providing a better lifestyle for Malaysians? I think Najib should first start by kicking some lazy, inefficient, privatised asses in TM!

NIAMAH!!!

Did he do the 'I help you, you help me' deal @ the "ITU World Telecommunication and Information Society Award" ?

The funny thing about piratisation is you take something that belongs to the people, e.g Telekom Malaysia and sell it to the people. Many years ago,TNB belongs to all Malaysians, then suddenly garment sold it to the people and called it piratisation. Something that belongs to all Malaysians many years ago, thru piratisation now belongs to certain people called shareholders. Isn't this funny?

Apparently the same piratisation trick was used in election too i.e. you take something that belongs to the people (e.g. taxpayer's money, funds) and give it back to the people. Funny and till today I am still puzzled.

AGREED!

Telekom Malaysia is really down the PITS (no where close to any of the more developed countries such as Singapore and Hong Kong). They will just tell you - you don't like, don't apply loh (that is the result of a MONOPOLY).

Patrick,

Ah, another one of those self appreciating and glorfying ads placed by "family and friends" of Jibby but using the tax payer's money. This Jibby and his Fat Mama are so desperate to be "loved" and honored that their shame have no boundaries.

Without guessing, I am sure our uncultured orphaned Minister of Misinformation must have made an offer of "You help me, I help you" to the ITU World Telecommunication and Information Society to dole out this ridiculous award to Jibby.

Anyway we should thank Jibby for his efforts in promoting ICT for a better lifestyle for Malaysians, because without his active participation in the youtube video, we would not have been able to laugh our heads off to his wheeling and dealing antics in Sibu.

Thank you Jibby for sharing your corrupted stupidity with all Malaysians and giving us a good laugh.

Patrick 2 weeks is nothing one la.. I waited 1 mth for my telephone line (some fellas stole the telephone line - the copper inside is fetching high prices nowadays, and telephone line stealing only happens in Malaysia), then I waited 2 mths for streamyx.

I called TM to ask why they taking so long, they ask me why people steal my line. Speechless.

Agreed - Najib should first start by kicking the lazy, inefficient, privatised assess in TM. TM's contractors had completed and get paid for laying new fibre optic cables and accessories for unifi high speed broadband for Subang Jaya as early as Mar 2010 yet service is still not available

because there are no others telecommunication company to compete with.

I'm opening up my shop in Bandar Baru Bangi on 01 June 2010. Registered for a TM line and Streamyx package last month.
Status update today: TM informed that their contractor can only "tarik itu line" next month!
Like that, want to be world class kah, TM?
One block away, the decade-old shoplots next to mine has phone lines but new shoplots cannot do installation FIRST?

haha... "wa tolong lu, lu tolong wa" this is really a classic word spoken from the Great PM...

You are lucky. As a late comer, I have been deprived of a fixed line for my business premises in JB for over 3 years. And I will not be connected until I pay TM the cost of the telephone wires, poles and contractor costs to bring a line to my premises. Apparently TM does not have the money to expand existing capacity.

What the fuck is the significance of this award? Look around to see how many Malaysian internet users are struggling just to surf the net because it is so fucking congested.. can't even stream a simple video clip. I think only those people who voted for BN will get good internet speeds because "lu mau good internet? wa mau menang 12GE"

Lastly...after getting my line, the downlosd speed is 1Kbit per minute. If it rains...there is no "signal". In the shopping complex, TM had promotion booth that OFFERs package for speeds of 4Mb download. A real NIAMAH !!!

Tiger, me too facing the same problem, Whole sunway got phone lines but some of the new shops in Sunway Mentari " Tak Cukup talian " they replied.and this was months ago, We called up kedai TM and asked when can the new line to be installed. , the staff said " tak Tahu, ini kena tanya orang atasan la. sorry.

This is why Malaysia is still in between developing country and third world country. The people is the former (not 100% sure) and the government is (definitely) the latter.

Phone line under my name. Streamyx under wife's name. Wanted to transfer Streamyx to my name. Was told by TM staff that to expect Streamyx to be down about one month for this transfer.

What a joke

I was excited when the high speed broadband was launched, Since I stay in USJ one of the pioneer areas to start, went to TM Point to sign up the next day, told to wait 2 months - fibre optic transponder box NO STOCK. Not satisfied, wrote a email to TM - got the same response - NO STOCK

WTF after spending billions and NO STOCK!!!!!

What do we expect from a arrogant PM who publicly announces that Rejang Park (Sibu) is not a place for a PM to come. This Pinklips has his head up his own arse and he has totally lost touch with reality. He is acting as if the tax payer's monies are his and its' up to him to dispense the money through his "You help me, I help you" wheeling dealing vote buying antics.

For the stooge ITU World Telecommunication and Information Society to give this arsehole PM an award is clear indication the society itself has its' own head buried in the sands. The state of affairs in telecommunications in Malaysia is so shitty and shameful compared to our little red dot neighbour and Hong Kong.

Forget about being a developed nation with these DUMNO goons in public office. We should now start rearing pigeons to carry our messages or learn to use smoke signals instead.

1Malaysia, Truly One Big Niamah.

PM got award but the rakyat still suffers with poor internet service and slow broadband at exhorbitant price.

The PM and wife are so inferior and so lack of confidence that they are preening at these dubious awards.

BTW, who were the past recipients in this ICT award and the one Fatty Mama was conferred in NYC? Perhaps from some newly formed companies from the crony friends of Najib.

Go and govern the country better instead of asking your advisers to hunt for these dubious awards generated by Award Mills, just like the degree mills where you pay and you get a Doctorate instantly.

Shame on you, PM and your Fatty Mama.

Talk about TM. I transferred my line from USJ to TTDI.
Told me should take 1 week.
Took them about 45 days, 4 visits from me, about 10 phone calls.
Really - don't commit if you KNOW you can't do it right?
Why took so long?
1. Tak tau nombor lar dekat sana...dude - you print the damn phone book right? TTDI was NOT built yesterday or 5 years before!!
2. Contractor sedang cari lagi nombor - AFTER I gave them my management's phone number. If they wanted people to give reference #s, shouldn't it be told upfront? Oh no wait - they'd be too stupid to find it anyways!
3. After I visited the TMpoint to complain, suddenly by next day I get someone to fix the line (Oh he complained like a b*tch about how it's raining, parking, bla bla)
4. Streamyx...that took another 3 weeks!! No escalation points, every phone call was 'sorry bagi pihak TM'...seriously, some managers are there sitting around doing NOTHING. Someone really should be sacked.

I used to work for an MNC.
Commits are like words stamped with your blood.
You don't commit anything if you're unsure - and when you do commit, you follow up till it's closed.
I'm guessing it's all talk, no systems, no follow ups, no escalation points, no f* care.

And some of the comments are soooo right - if their backbone infrastructure wasn't set up previously because they were garment, this company would've folded up 20 times over.

Bunch of clowns trying to make my life better? Peeeeehhhhh!!! Not only niamah - TIU niamah!

ITU World Telecommunication and Information Society Award for his "efforts to promote ICT as a means of providing a better lifestyle for Malaysians."

First and foremost, there is no competition and that means monopoly ! It simply means I provide and you either take it or leave it mentality ! Got it, Patrick ?

A well informed society in Malaysia don't exist ! This is simply because the government will feed you and me with info. that is favourable to them. The rest, shut up ! All media except the internet are controlled !

1Malaysia Boleh !

The worst thing is the "telephone answering system"! Why bother to have such a system when finally, problems had to be solved by HUMANS! Every phone call to TM has to go through this stupid system and the caller is made to wait while TM blares away its advertisements!! Why are consumers made to pay for TM's advertisements?

Hiyah! what's the problem here? ICT (I Con Them) correct mah! PM really did promote ICT for Malaysians. No need to gaduh gaduh one! This time THEY got it right! NUMBNUTS!

When you buy Toto or 4D, you are actually contributing to the umno buy-election war chest.

I suggest all malaysians quit betting (even the coming berjaya's football betting) as this is a very strong motivation for us to do so for our future.

Why support Najib when he got no guts and balls to counter the extremism of Gertak and Perkasa?

His 1Malaysia has a serious flaw. Don't ever be deceived by his 'charm'.

Our streamyx line was so much slower than a 56k dial up line.

Then after 6 months they still cannot fix the SPEED (can't even open Yahoo or gmail!). Maybe, something to do with a Malaysian minister who cannot differentiate between internet speed and penetration, both factors a dick head would know best.

Did I mention that during that 6 months we had to pay FULL FEE every month? Of course we POTONG the line, much happier with P1 Wimax.

Download speed at Mozambique is faster than in Malaysia.

Najib please take note.
