The Yes You Can Minister

Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, The Federal Territories and Urban Well-Being Minister (have you wondered sometimes at that last bit of his portfolio? What the fuck does it mean?) made a statement about coping with the high cost of living in urban centres yesterday. One pf the things he said was,

"Earning RM3,000 a month should be manageable if folks living in cities cut down on overheads such as Astro and cars." He also said, "...having cars could be a burden owing to the high cost of maintenance."

This prompted at least 1 Malaysian to comment......

"My dear Minister: to some people having a car is not a luxury. Those that live deep inside low-cost-housing areas where buses dont go; they scrimp and save to buy a kancil so they can send their kids to school and eke out a meagre living...This is just ONE of the things that is not quite right with your statement on the cost of living in KL."

You can read the full Star story of this minister who needs a reality check HERE

And if you are a resident of Kuala Lumpur this next bit of ministerial wisdom might tempt you to want to kick him in the balls. Hard.

"This city is liveable for those earning RM3,000 a month, provided they do not live in luxurious places."

Sure you can. If you are single. If you don't need to send money home to support parents and siblings. If you don't need a car because the LRT stops right at your doorstep and your office. If you don't mind living in one of those places that the YB says you can rent for RM124 a month. If you don't need any form of entertainment. Ya you can.

Unbelievable... What bout strip his salary to RM3000? or RM3000 per month for all these ministers?

1. A living proof that RM3000 per month is livable; 2. Saving the country's money; 3. Experience the people life; 4. Well, these fellows are not performing, what's wrong to cut salary?

Standing tall as a Malay S'porean

I REFER to former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad's claim that even though Malay Singaporeans enjoy the benefits of a more developed country, they have to "terbongkok-bongkok" (kowtow) to others ("Malaysian Malays might kowtow to others if..."; Tuesday).

Tun Dr Mahathir will not find support among Singapore Malays.

In today's socio-economic environment, it is impossible to hold back the ambitions and dreams of anyone. Regardless of race, language or religion, opportunities are aplenty. It is up to the individual to take charge and grab them.

To this end, I am grateful that I was not brought up thinking that I am guaranteed a constitutional right that specially cares for me. Had it been so, I would probably be languishing in the lower rungs of a self-driven Singapore society.

I may not be the world's first Malay space tourist or appointed chairman of a huge conglomerate. But I am a small business owner who can stand as tall as my fellow Singaporeans trying to make a mark on the global economy. I am glad I was taught how to fish, and not spoon-fed all the time.

Now if those F@#$$%& BN ministers will admit that the real market cost of cars and spare parts should only be HALF of the prices that we getr charged for in Malaysia just so that the citizens are subsidizing those cronies who make those parts and gettin the damn APs. And if not for Astro's monopoly, we can actually put up a bigger satellite dish and receive all kinds of broadcast for FREE!

If city dwellers can go without cars, then sales of our national cars would definitely drop! The Chinese say, "You want horses to run but you do not want to feed the horses!" This is exactly the situation. And I guess this is one of the reasons why public transport in the cities never improved as it would otherwise jeopardize sales of our national cars.

The next thing is the criteria for the building of the LRT! Why is it that even the race factor was one of the considerations when building LRT routes and stations? One fine example is the BANDAR TUN RAZAK LRT station which can be said to be IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! It took me hours to hunt for it when I first decide to use the service. This is because it is the nearest station to my place which is more than 3 km away on busy JALAN CHERAS. The famous traffic jams along Jalan Cheras did not become one of the factors for the location of the LRT and that is why the station end up in BANDAR TUN RAZAK!

the problem with that is fresh grad earns about 2000-2500..
say one single person earns 2000 for start.

250 - EPF, Socso
150 - Bus card(yes public transport is expensive and doesn't seem to reach despite the office saying three bus just went off an hour ago)
400 - room rent inclusive of electric and water(note it's ROOM not HOUSE)
300 - study loan(we are talking about the cheapest 30k degree with 10 yrs repayment. what if the degree cost more?)
100 - household items(shampoo, toilet paper and stuff la)

left 800 to eat and spend.
450 - say nasi ayam rm5(drink soup only no order water)X 3 meals a day X 30 days a month.

left 350 and say you save it all to buy a house.
low cost house costs around say 50k

it takes you 12 yrs to get a house. what if you marry and have a kid? you will continue to pay by selling blood after retirement?

BN politician farkers say the dumbest things. What's worse is they actually think they are talking sense. This particular farking BN Raja "None" probably spends RM3000 on one pair of shoes. Since he said RM 3000 can live in a comfort way in urban...!
Then, why not just cut down or even cut off all ministers' allowances too ?!
Since their salary at least 5 ~ 10 times more than Rm3000 or some even more !
If like what he said is true, then all ministers should be living in an extreme , extreme,extremeeeeeeeeee.... comfort life style.....!
Should totally cut off all theirs allowances.
Save the money for the country to grow.........
Be a patriotic minister !

The Hon Minister well know that all the mess were caused by senseless policies - policies that benefitted a few chosen individuals.

AP's, monopolies, unsolicited subsidies, purchases of sub- submarines - were these for the well-beings of Malaysia ?

Many of us have woken up, realise and sense - too many things just don't add up.

How do these politicians live their lives - how do they face the people, their families - knowing
the low-downs they committed.

Just don't rub it in with these simplistic statements. Please

M.Aminudin is proud. He is right to say that he is taught to fish and not spoon fed. When a person is consistently being told that they are the underdogs and therefore needed tongkat from the Gov. in order to have a fair fighting chance with other races, I believe this sort of people will continue to be reliance on the Gov. and lacked initiative and thinking power to be on the par with other races. The majority of chinese Singaporeans are also finding it hard to compete with their peers too. But its Gov, is strict. Opportunities are given to this lower rung of society, but it does not oppress the middle or higher goal achievers from achieving their goals. It actually encourages them to compete with foreign professionals who have chosen Singapore as their base. With this actions, it only heighten the competitions and professionalism among its people.
In Malaysia, the high achievers are oppressed, retarded and slowed down, to allow the "weaker" folks to catch up, indefinitely. All the cry of fairness, and rights, but what about others?
Like Aminudin, other races are taught how to fish. And to fish we will do with much efficiency and effectiveness. Thank you for making it hard to make living here, bcos this only goes to make the oppressed work harder even more.

Unbelievable misquote by Patrick. Why can't you be objective and level headed. This policy of rm3000 came about to determine the level of income in the city which policies should strive for. Previously people use rural core level of income of rm 1000 if not mistaken. Thus those above rm1000 receive less support.

Why don't you start an intelligent debate. We all know at whatever income it's not enough for anyone. instead We should determine what sort of income level which needs support. Above that should be left to open market principles. Dare you to start the discussion rather than rambling aimlessly.

Our future is at stake. The BN government is gambling on our future whether the licence is reissued or otherwise. Vincent Tan will be compensated for his present and past 'national services' to the BN.

How he'll be compensated is anybody's guess but it'll definitely be a big fat sum. The outcome is clear, we are the losers. Whatever little money left in our pocket will be moved to Vincent Tan's bank account.

It does not matter how you look at it, gambling is bad for Malaysians. Najib wants to issue the sport gambling licence to Vincent. MCA comes out loud to support it. PPP also sings the same tune. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad sings the loudest in support of it. Do you think they support sports gambling because they care about Malaysians?

Why must the government so adamant in pleasing just one tycoon who is already filthy rich? In pleasing this guy, the consequence is that thousands will eventually suffer financial woes from betting on sports results.

Despite PM Najib's exhortation of 1Malaysia and NEM, nothing is going to change unless Umno is changed from within. The truth is change is not going to drop from the sky for Najib. It has to do with change of culture, the way members see things around them, the value system, and about the correct manner of wealth accumulation.

Can Umnoputras change their values, norms, and belief system which the party cadres subscribed to after so many years of enjoying the easy money? You must be kidding to believe they can.

If change is so easy how do you explain that there are only a handful of First World nations? We have to see his contribution in positive light (feeble as it is).

Over time, it will help build up the critical mass. The tipping point is nowhere in sight, but when it comes, you will be surprised to see another political tsunami may well force the change of government. Take his contribution as empirical evidence from an insider.

The premier called its fellow BN alliances to stop attacking each others, but instead focus their attacks on the enemies - the oppositions. Is he trying to tell the others to keep quiet about the wrong doings of the other party components, keep an eye close on their misappropriations of funds, etc. and acted as though the country is well governed? It this an indirect caution to other members of the alliance to "just shut the f#@k up" and attack the opposition?
Now, if the oppositions are the enemies here, then the voters who have voted the PKR in are the enemies as well?! Which means almost half of the country's citizens are the enemy of the country? How could the premier could have stood so low as to call out its fellow citizens-PKR as enemies? Is this way to make the rhetoric call of 1Malaysia work? I think he have missed his step here. Overcome by his emotion.

The real enemy, Mr.Premier, is the folks who have squandered the country of monies with inflated project cost, who have played the racial issue to cause disharmony, and who have not carried out the Gov.'s manifesto of helping the Rakyat by delegating essential assistance and funds to the Rakyat. That Mr.Prime Minister, is the enemy of the country!

Football gambling is not new. It has been in existence thru internets. Bets were taken on almost any major leagues in the world. If VT is true to his intentions to give back what his company made from the gambling revenues, he should at first do more for all Malaysians. He should ensure the Malaysians in general are living comfortably, and that the people's salary is beyond RM3k and living in KL is not a hardship afterall. Only then it is called "give back to society".
VT should improve the social issues with revenue gained directly. He do not need to pass the revenue to the Gov. directly. He could channel all the millions in to one of his companies to improve the public transports and basic amenities. Any donations to charitable homes etc is noble, but do spare some for the struggling folks out there who intend to make a living and also help the country to prosper further, as any which way to make it a tad easier for us all is a big welcome indeed.

"Unbelievable misquote"? Really?

"This policy of rm3000 came about to determine the level of income in the city which policies should strive for."

So our policies should strive for the paupering the urban middle class, yes? Increase the costs of basic goods and services like healthcare and education through "subsidy removal"; increase consumption tax income through GST; give TNB and Telekoms free rein to raise tariffs whenever they want; suppress private sector wages; allow toll concessionaires the same leeway; maintain or increase personal income tax for the middle lower brackets, but lower corporate tax and duties on "necessities" like speedboats, helicopters and luxury cars; and then what?

Spend on new Parliament house, put some asshole to the moon, RM600+ on 1Pussy, aircraft engines that walk away, unsinkable submarines, new palace, Fat Woman's advertisements, laptops that cost RM20k.... the list goes on forever, you know it, I know it.

AND THEN tell us RM3,000 is livable if you change your lifestyle? Change to what?

Mandi sungei, naik basikal, berak tepi jalan, listen to redifussion, tanam padi, baca Utusan Malaysia untuk mencari ilmu, rape children to memuaskan hawa nafsu dan sebagainya?

On a different note, you guys all missed the best part of Nong Chik's bullshit... it's at the end of the story: "'A high-income model was needed to enable the people to enjoy a good lifestyle,' he added."

“To enjoy high income we need high productivity."

This is from the guy who, a few paragraphs earlier, said RM3,000 is an acceptable urban household income.

Basically, high income = low wages.

And besides, RM3,686 was the average nationwide household income THREE YEARS AGO. Even then people were saying it was bullshit. And now Nong Chik says we should be happy with LESS?

Some1 please tell him that in Malaysia, if a waiter can manage an average of 10 tables each, the salary will stay – but the Manager will take you out karaoke once every 2 months to show appreciation to your hardwork.

“In Japan, for example, one caddie can serve four golfers at a time and therefore they earn a higher wage compared with Malaysian caddies who serve one golfer at a time,’’ he said.

Some1 please tell him that in Malaysia, if one caddie can serve 4 golfers at one time – all 4 golfers will chip in to pay this kid his booking fee.

The reason for a new parliament house is that the current one is haunted with a mongolian ghost.

Aiiiiyooohh, how come you guys can't see the real reason why UMNO is trying to get the ulamas to join them..........

Just a couple of days ago, Saudi came with woman breastfeeding driver to circumvent some Syariah laws and UMNO is feeling very much humiliated lah. Now, imagine if our own fatwahs allowing such acts in Malaysia and more. Example, sports betting can become halal if ulamas say so, corruption is halal if I help you, you help me. So many things can be 'purified' by these ulamas and BN cronies can all go to heaven, even on earth. 72 dancing virgins could be next on UMNO's agenda lah........!!

Conversation between me and my Indonesian friend who planned to further study in Malaysia:

"How many public pool do you have in this part of KL?"

"none."

"The area I live in in Indonesia have four."

"...."

"Why do we have to pay so many tolls here?"

"..."

"Why there is no bus from my place to my daughter' s school which is only 5 mins away by car?"

"..."

" Why do I have to spend extra money to install astro in order to enjoy full program on world cup?"

"..."

"Why the prices of things keep going up?"

"..."

"I suppose Indonesia is a better county for me. i think I better go back."

"...I think so." (Can I migrate to indonesia with you?)

If everybody (regardless of race)in KL can live on rm3000/mth...and pay rent for only rm124/mth....That means everybody else outside of KL must be RICH... because the cost of living is lower!!! Hey longer NEED the NEP anymore!!!
