If the govt want to develop something(build this tower),why don't they ask foreigner to fork out the money instead of using our money(PNB or EPF)? In this way,you have inflow of foreign investment and at same time our money can be better utilised for the welfare of the rakyat at large. The govt just got to think of some incentives for the foreigner to invest RM5B to build this tower.
Why can,t the govt think along this line?

Anonymous said...

Hahhahaa ,, For the past 50 over years, do you think the CRUTHCHES accumulated are enough to build more than 100 storeys ?

The higer you go , one tends to be lonely , cold and insecure and you can see even Eagle cry at the top of the building......

But sure it's the right place to get your body Crushed.

ONE WAY WIND.

Patrick, tell us what is that.

100 stories tower standing straight in btw two oval shape stadium, one big one small when you look down from Google Earth.

Not a pretty sign pointing at you-know-who. A sign that that 50+ yr old party will be gone from face of Earth by 2020.

Shhh, don't open your mouth, let them build and buried themselves in the process.

This 100 storey Menara Warisan is no use to the people of Sabah and Sarawak unless they can build one each in KOTA KINABALU and KUCHING. This PM has never care about the poor people in SABAH AND SARAWAK. Why not use the money to improve and develope Roads, hospitals, schools, power and water supplies in SABAH AND SARAWAK. I do not believe in his "PEOPLE FIRST" and "PERFORMANCE NOW". He should be brave to shout "KL FIRST" and "SABAH AND SARAWAK LAST!"

Anonymous said...

Definitely a BIG NO!!. The initial cost is likely to baloon judging from past records. Even if we were to spent RM10 Billion for improvement to public transport it will be well spent.

Tak Nak!

The RM5 billion development costs could and should be invested into other areas such as improving education and healthcare facilities, reducing poverty levels, and particularly making life easier through better public transportation and greater assistance to the Orang Asli, the disabled and the elderly.

Among others to:

* Eradicate poverty and improve the people’s standards of living by providing shelter, electricity, water and other forms of assistance to the hardcore poor.

* Improve the infrastructure of schools, and increase access to education by providing free books to schoolchildren in rural areas.

* Improve the healthcare system by building daycare and dialysis centres, and upgrading equipment and facilities in hospitals and clinics.

* Build the capacity of the disabled by providing training to enable them to enter and succeed in the job market while building infrastructure to enable their mobility.

* Provide assistance to the elderly by building old folks homes.

* Reduce traffic problems in major towns and cities while making them more livable.

Hence, I appeal to the rakyat of Malaysia to support and oppose the development of the 100-storey tower! I am still proud to be Malaysian without the tower.

This is unrelated to the post, but yields possible danger to Malaysia.

Hope you can take a look at the news on releasing genetically modified mosquitoes to curb the aedes menace.

I feel the public is not properly informed on the details and possible implications.

There's an online petition.

It goes beyond whether it's private or government funds. In bolehland, where do the GLC's and cronies' private companies get their money and profits?

Well, the government pays RM 400 for a RM 22 screw driver, to whom? Since Mahathir, UMNO has used private companies to suck our blood.....PKFZ 12.5 billion ringgit land is peanuts when Najib's last hurrah gets going.....25 billion (not 5 billion, you'll see) Warisan Merdeka from PNB, etc, etc, gifted by UMNO government robbed from Petronas and taxpayers' money.

Hassan said...

The people no more trust our leaders. The people always feel that whatever mega projects initiated by the government is meant to enrich someone. This is the truth in our country. For this simple reason the people will always object to such mega projects.

The government has to first of all get back the people's trust before they can do anything on a big scale. The government and MACC only talks but nothing serious is being done to fight corruption which is destroying the country. MACC seems to be a useless body. All the big fish they investigate either no action is taken or if the cases reach the court, the cases are either thrown out or there isn't enough evidence for the courts to impose any sentence. What is the MACC doing? Only talk big but not producing the desired results. Its a waste of money having MACC. Might as well close down MACC. Better save money as corruption will continue to increase because no action is taken. People are fed up with our leaders.

More than 200 000 Malaysians have backed a Facebook protest to stop the proposed construction of the 100-storey Warisan Merdeka tower as Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin joined Pakatan Rakyat PR leaders in calling on Datuk Seri Najib Razak not to ignore the protest.

Anonymous said...

Just build the tower in Kampung Baru will solve the problem since UMNO folks want the tower to be built there.

Anonymous said...

Why are people objecting to the 100 storey building"

1. It is the symbol of the govt's excesses
2. People are fed up of the corruptions involved in mega projects

Engaging the people and try to spin the way out is not the solution. The only way is for the govt to change. There is no two way out.

One word of advise. More spinning and lying will make the people angry and the situation will be worst.

I have run out of words to describe Umno morons. Can anyone help me?

True, all Najib wants is that the tower be a pride of the nation. But what is so proud about a tall tower that does not benefit the man on the street but create traffic jams, causes a glut in office space in KL and only enriches the cronies in Umno? No Malaysian will want to be proud of that.

Just like Proton - it was supposed to be the pride of the nation. But in the end, Proton is seen as a manufacturer of overpriced low-quality cars that till today still depends on government protection.

And just like Proton, if the mega-tower project fails, whose money will it be to bail out the project? Yes, it's the rakyat's money. Like what happened to Proton, Perwaja, MAS, etc.

Menara Warisan is just to show the egoestic face of Jib and nothing else. Has over 200,000 ++ posting in facebook with their disagreement for Mega Tower project, yet Jib ignores it and continues to harping through Main Stream Media tv's and newspaper. Also, with cybertroopers and keyboard warrior to continues to harping all of us to shut up. Don't back down just yet. Show those cybertroopers and keyboard warrior, the Rakyat wants to tell you that Mega Tower is a liability and no benefits at all.

Anonymous said...

A mega-tower will result in mega-traffic jams in KL. Of course, this is not a concern to those who travel with police escorts. The rest of us who are on buses, cars, motorcycles and lorries have to give way to them.

Go ahead, continue to build your castles, palaces and mansions around the country and deprive the rakyat their basic needs. Don't even preach productivity to us as your RM500 million electronic road system cannot even function properly.

Patrick,

I signed the petition but I believe it's wasting our time anyway. It will make no difference to najib even if there are 20 million signatures protecting against the 100 storey DUMNO/PNB building. The fact is as long as the cronies and proxies enrich themselves via this inflated white elephant building, the building will proceed. On top of this, the word going round is that this building reflects malay ketuanan supremacy so we will also see the illiterate malays and sycophants egging on this building as they think it will be built with their malay money. Of course history will repeat itself and our tax and EPF money will be used to bail out this building. Forget about the traffic jams and destruction of the academic institutions around the area as these are unimportant and irrelevant matters to najib.

The senile old man TDM had his own grandiose white elephants (Proton, Twin Towers, Putrajaya, KLIA, etc) so najib also wants his share of white elephants before he leaves office too. And we wonder why the little red dot south continues to edge further and further ahead in all aspects of governance, education, health care, public transportation and better quality of life.

1Malaysia, truly Bodohland

Another white elephant in the making. Such mammoth projects will only help a few and that too the cronies and proxies of UMNO/BN ministers. Instead the government should spend the money to upgrade the lives of the poor rural/urban Malays, Chinese, and Indians of W. Malaysia and Kadazans, Ibans of E. Malaysia. Has ot the government learned anything from the past? Bodoh punya kerajaan....

BN should not use money on KL and Puterajaya.

Please develop other small towns in Malaysia as well that badly require infrastructure upgrading.

Otherwise, tehre is no reason for us to vote for BN when we pay tax but do not see any improvement in our towns!!!!

Therefore NO to KL mega projects!!!

Dear Patrick,
The government just gave the rakyat the reason to vote them out in the next GE.
No doubt with our Home Ministry's image is tainted, along with our Police force,Judiciary system corrupted, even the MACC takes sides, I won't be surprised that even SPR is corrupted, and the result of votes would be manipulated.
How then?
How can we self govern ourselves when voter's ballot doesn't mean anything since the numbers can be manipulated?
I mean anyone with the right mind is waiting to vote BN out in the next GE.

Muhyiddin has told Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) to ignore critics of the RM5bil Warisan Merdeka development project and concentrate on implementing it.

The Deputy Prime Minister said those criticising the project just wanted to see it fail.

“They are probably jealous that PNB has the capability to embark on such a big project that will benefit the country."

In this country of Bolehland..................everything is possible.........when they are stuck with cash, they can always turn to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) for cheap funds to bail out the abandon projects and the EPF members who contribute to the fund don't have any say on the matter ! ! !
So, basically the rakyat is funding the project(s) and UMNO is getting all the CREDITS ! ! ! !
So, UMNO........you poo nia boh ! ! ! !

"Critics say forcing consumers to tighten their belts without the government undergoing an austerity drive was meaningless."

That is so true. We are supposed to tighten our belts while PM Najib Razak will be spending RM65 million to renovate his residence in Putrajaya, not to mention the insane amount spent by Tourism Minister Ng Yen Yen on her overseas trips. And the list goes on.

I think we must heed what the DPM has tried to tell us over and over. The building is NOT going to be built using public money. So stop saying that the money can be used for building schools etc. PNB is NOT in the business of building government schools. Or government hospitals. Or comment halls. Or kampung roads. They say they can make money for their shareholders with this 100 storey building. Maybe they can. Who are we to say?

Our protests should bear this in mind. Otherwise the DPM will say we are just jealous and order PNB to ignore all protests and carry on. Get it?

I wish i could I find this article to share with you all that shows the correlation between construction of tall towers and economic depression.

Since Biblical times, mankind has been obsessed with constructing tall towers. According to Bible, the tower of Bable was built but met with devastating consequences when God struck it down.

Come 20th century, when the Empire State Building was unveiled in 1929, it was the beginning of America's worst decade long depression. When Petronas towers was ready in 1998, the Malaysia's economy was at it's worst shape in history. Last year, 2009, the Burj Al-khalifa building in Dubai which was the tallest building in the world was unveiled, and Dubai and UAE was on the brink of bankruptcy.

I shudder to think of the economic situation come 2015 when this Wawasan 100 story tower will be ready.

I find it so hilarious and mind boggling that one's nation quest to be a developed nation by 2020 can be achieved by building a 100 story tower.

A truly Malaysian boleh quest!

By the way, the mileage earned by Specialist Yen Yen for her frequent air travel should belong to the rakyat, right?

According to Election Commission, 18,493 are spouses of postal vote applicants

The Election Commission is a disgrace. They are totally beholden to Umno. The next election will be rigged to ensure a BN victory no matter what. Najib himself have said they will defend Putrajaya at all cost, meaning they are prepared to resort using foul means too.

The sudden increase in postal voters clearly illustrates their intent to manipulate the results as those casting postal votes can easily avoid scrutiny. The only way to combat this is to have as much opposition votes as possible so that it will offset the postal votes.

BN/UMNO is getting desperate by the day
Making slanderous remarks another way
To tarnish DAP and uncle Lim’s image
To try to gain political advantage

To power UMNO is desperate to cling
Can this be their final fling?
Lets make this to come true
At GE13 vote in the PR crew

With God do not ‘play play’
We all must trust and obey
Repent and stop your evil way
Or meet God’s wrath one day

BN’s double by-election wins is at most
For the PR team just a battle lost
Be ready with good preparation
To win the war the 13th general election

According to NAPIC, there are about 26.6% of the office space in KL is empty and under utilised. The current supply of office lot in KL is 6,750,000 square feet and there are as high as 1,790,000 square feet currently left empty and untenanted.

Judging from this fact, the Government’s decision to spend a whopping RM5 billion to build a 100-storey “Menara Warisan” is perceived as another wastage of public fund. In fact the fund can be utilised to build schools, Hospitals, Universities and other public amenities for the people’s interest but it is with regret such legitimate request had turned to deaf ears

Chinese and Indians don't want join the army because your kind will always bully the non-Malays in the army. Promotions do not go according to merit but kulit-fication.

Chinese and Indians are very practical. Why would they join the army when they will be marginalised and denied promotions? By the way, Chinese and Indians are patriotic in a different way, they contribute to nation building by paying the most taxes. Every race has different way of contributing to the nation.

One of the seven Immigration officers arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) last month has RM9 million in a foreign bank account, believed to be proceeds from human trafficking activities. A source familiar with the case revealed that the officer, in his 40s, had amassed the fortune when he was posted at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) in Sepang.

Assuming he has worked for 20 years, this means that he has been earning RM9,000,000 / 240 months = RM37,500 per month. And the civil servants still demand 2 months of bonus.

Let's compare our infrastructure spending with that of Dubai. This is another Dubai in the making.

Dubai has nothing to speak of, except for the government's dream of making it the most modern country in the world. People flocked to it initially, thinking the buildings will sell at ever growing prices. But they do not know what determines success ultimately is economics. People must occupy them to make business. There is no natural economic environment for this business growth. Now buildings are unoccupied and selling at less than half its value. It will continue to drop. The sparkle is no longer there as people see the reality of it all.

This is what is going to happen to Malaysia.
