Can survive one

RM3,000 a month can survive one.
Well thank you so much, YB!

There is this very funny story in The Malaysian Insider today.  In it the minister of international trade and industry Mustapha Mohd was quoted as saying that his ministry will use RM3,000 a month salary as a proxy for high income jobs.  First of all, what is the meaning of using it as a proxy? And second of all, the minister also said that "you won't be rich with RM3,000 but you can survive."  But I thought that if you had a high-income job you would be able to do much more than just "survive". No? Maybe I don't understand these things lah. Maybe the YB has some great economic theory which eludes poor working slobs like me. But then I remember this is the same YB who when asked why there was a need for a new multi-million Ringgit Istana Negara replied that it's 'nice' to have or something silly like that. So how?

As for the 3000 ringgit it is better than 700 and is a start ain't it?

Patrick,

Malaysia is pretty screw up nation. I wish I could forward you the lastest figures derived from the inland revenue dept. Malaysia has 10 m workers out of which only 10% or 1 m ppl pay tax as the majority earns less than rm2k a month.

And guess what. Only 1% or 100k ppl of the workforce earns more than rm5 k !! I earn more than rm 5k a month and that makes me the top 1% income earner . My primary school teacher used to call me useless for scoring last in class. But I am so proud that I am earning more than 99% of malaysians today!!!

Malaysia boleh!!

aiyo, for us 3,000 survive lor. for UMNOputras, very very susah unless they make 30,000 by shaking legs lor. who wouldnt want tojoi perkasa?

Pat,

This half brain minister is by all means a complete idiot. How can RM3,000 be the benchmark/proxy for high income jobs. He must still be living in the sixties if he thinks RM3,000 is high income. This is the trouble with all these jurassic brain dead ministers in the PM's cabinet. They are all full of ssshhhhiiiiitttt and continuously changing mode like the other dinosaur minister of bad culture and mis-information.

RM3,000

- not enough for "1st lady's" visit to the hairdresser
- not enough for Hishamuddin's facial treatment
- not enough to pay electricity bill for Khir's mansion
- maybe enough for 2 drops of the expensive wine Jho Low bought for Paris Hilton

Today i heard on the radio (forgot which channel) an 'advertisement' on one should not complain about what one do not have and should be thankful of what one has as compared to the unfortunate for example no home.

I wonder what is this all about? Any guesses????

Dulu I ada satu kawan kerja di kilang I banyak hairan dia tak pernah bising pasal naik gaji , bonus, janji mau duduk tempat itu juga..

Sekarang baru wa tahu sebab apa orang itu sngeat peramah sangat bagoi..Ada lubang ma..Tak payah 3000 , 300 pun sudah cukup ma.

Teng teng wan sik.

I don't believe only 100k people earning more than 5k. Do take note that the majority contribution of our population doesn't go to inland revenue directly, but to the 'Z' foundation. The statistical figure might not be accurate anymore due to this missing portion. Because of this twisted figure, Dr.M always quote that 80% of tax revenue come from the rich non-Bumi, and hence justifying the Never Ending Policy

Leadership by Example mah..dun just talk cock only.

What is the use our high income economy when we're actually living in a low wage, high cost economy?

3000 income but to buy a lowya local made car costs more than 40000? 1 year no need to eat, no need sleep, no need pay bills, don't get sick, no need pay tax/assesment/etc also cannot buy.

better earn 2000pounds per month, can buy VW Polo costs 5000pounds.

3000RM a month as proxy. Even felda settlers have that income now, according to pink lips. Jolly good. Many abengs and muthus don't even bring home that amount. So why prolong nep, may i ask?

eugene said...

What high income, low income already have to pay RM100 for pay tv,, another RM100 for high speed broadband...

stop corruption...channel those wastage to the rakyat we will then be happy even low income, break up the monopoly.......

My son,a graduate of E&E engineering, his current salary is less than RM3K per month even though he has worked for the same co for 3 years plus.
So,Mr.Minister, can you assist in telling the co to raise the remuneration to atleast RM3K, inline with your proxy salary of RM3K?

Aiya Bro Pat, why do you want to waste your time with this chappie who most probably would have come out last in my year in high school if he had managed to scrape in to join us.

You should tell him a good dinner in your simple restaurant with a few good drinks thrown in would cost more than RM3000 ! That might help him understand and wipe that smirk off his face.

BTW I only want a very very simple meal when I call one day after I have saved some left-overs from my self-funded pension.

Best way to look at standard of living is for a day/hour's work, what can the wages get u in MY vs. a developed country.

In an advanced country, an hour's work at min wages (AUD10/EUR10) can get u a decent meal, transport home & some change. Here, we have to work 3 hours (RM3.50) to get rice (RM5.50) and kopi ais (RM1.80), and barely enough for a bus ride!

This is a plain and simple comparison!

I THINK WHEN HIS DAYS COME

THE PEOPLE MIGHT SMASH HIS FACE LIKE THAT GREECE DID TO THEIR FINANCE MINISTER.

THEY CAN TALK LIKE THAT AND ONE DAY JUST ONE DAY WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIS FACE SMASHED LIKE A SWEET POTATO BY PEOPLE LIVING WITH RM 3000 A MOTHBALLS

Can someone verify the mail that sits in my mailbox?
EXAMPLE
Ah Chong & Muthu
Annual income is RM100,000-- & Relief of RM23K
Donates RM10,000 to the temple
Chargable income RM70,000 after deducting approved donation restricted to RM7000.
Tax payable RM 7,125
Total paid (Donation + Tax) RM 17,125

Ahmad
Same income
Chargeable income(RM100K - 23K) RM77,000
Tax payable (RM7125 + 1680) RM 8,805
Less Zakat RM10,000
Tax refundable RM 1,195
Total refundable(Zakat+Tax)RM 8,805

Ah Chong & Muthu has the same income, paid the same donation & still needs to pay tax of RM7,125

Ahmad pays NO TAX, gets a TAX REFUND of RM1,195 [Ah Chong & Muthu contributes towards this lah] and is deem a dutiful tax payers?? and honours his religious obligation.

Are the above calculations correct???

Out of total of RM47.2 billion new investments secured by Malaysia for the year 2010, Penang got 29% (RM12.2b, which is almost 5.7 times registered in 2009), Selangor 2nd with 22.5%, Johore 3rd 15.9% (RM7.5b), Sarawak 4th 8.3% (RM3.9b).

It shows that Pakatan government is able to pull in more investment than BN!

One way for BN to save Badrul Hisham is to make a back dated legislation by authorising bomohs to certify sick leaves.

RM3,000 a month with a rich father paying for your food, shelter, car and expenses AND to also feed your family of seven IS a high income! NUMBNUTS! It take a whole of a lot more then RM3,000 (after deduction of EPF, Income Tax, Insurances etc) to just bring home the basic necessities to the table!. 'Winds of change coming!'. NUMBNUTS to WINGNUTS confirmed!

He forgot that ex-PM (Apanama) had previoulsy declared Malaysia an Islamic State.

Maybe he should re-attend BTN class in order not to embarass his 1Msia boss.

BN is proposing PROXY voting to allow those who are unable to be present on polling day to have their votes cast by approved substitutes.

I think this is desperate move as their postal votes can no longer help them to win election. Proxy voting is another way they could do manipulation.

This is the same "nice guy" who when Daim rifled Govt pension funds to rescue Renong to the tune of a billion $ or more, said on prime time national tv that we (Malaysia citizens) should all not question it "in the national interest." ??!! Wtf big time.

Sometimes, I despair. I don't know what is worse. The UMNO/BN crooks defending the UMNO/BN crooks or the "nice guys" defending UMNO/BN crooks!

If a M'sian is earning $3K a month abroad, this is not the talent we want to bring back to save us from UMNO/BN's mismanagement of our beloved nation. Let them stay continue stayiing abroad, probably in Tunisia, Zimbabwe or Iran.
