Wednesday funny

No la. It's nothing.

I was feeling bored while waiting for people to arrive for a lunch meeting. So I looked around and found a magazine which had a photo of Dr. Mahathir on the cover. And like so many Malaysians I did the next thing which was to open the magazine to see what Dr. M was up to. Inside there was a multi-paged article and interview with the senior statesman. Nothing new or funny about that I suppose. Then towards the end of the piece I noticed that the writer had done a listing of Dr. Mahathir's 'achievements' and titled it "Dr. Mahathir's Legacies".  What I read made me fall off the chair laughing. Truth be told if I was Dr. M I would really be upset that such a list was printed. Take a look and see if you think it is funny. In a ironic kind of way.

Dr. Mahathir's Legacies:-

Vision 2020
National Car manufacturer, Proton
Petronas Twin Towers
North-South Expressway
Multimedia Super Corridor
Putrajaya
Kuala Lumpur International Airport
Sepang International Circuit
Bakun Dam
Langkawi's Development
Malaysia Boleh

Other than the North-South Expressway which made travelling a bit more convenient for Malaysians, does the man have anything to be proud of? Funny, right?

Really? Nothing to be proud of eh? Hmmm, guess your thinking is always as crooked as your face on that lousy book of yours he heh....

Funny? I'd have laughed my head off... if it did not hurt so bad.

Even the toll highways, which at the onset did save much time and money, have since deteriorated into mega-costly kilometer after kilometer of nose-to-tail car park during the times when large numbers of Malaysians need them the most - balik kampung or even just long weekend break times. What started off as affordable turned out to be the bait; the contractual hikes soon had the tolls doubling, tripling and more. Plus there were the hdden costs - billions paid by the government with the rakyat's money so that the toll rates are apparently not increased. All we need is for some loud-mouth minister to rub salt into our wounds with yet another "tidak membebankan rakyat" lie.

And Mahathir? The truth cannot be kept hidden, and no matter how much the initial glossy image make-over may have managed to put an glitzy shine on his putrid track record after he stepped down amidst a torrent of tears, he himself has since said and done much to prove to one and all just what he truly is.

Legacy? I would rather put it as he is writing his own condemning indictment.

And what has become of the legions of "We love you Tun!" fans? The truth hurts, eh?

Aisehman Patrick,

Of course the old man has a lot to be proud of. He raked in a huge bundle of moolah under the noses of malaysians and got away with it. Not even the "Ponzi King" Bernie Maddoff could pull off such a stunt. Better still the old man got 3 standing ovations from UMNO by the sheer mention of his name. We should have his portrait on our postal stamps to commemorate this proud man. Can't wait to buy his stamps............

Funny. Why does a person that hates your guts enough to criticize about your appearance even bother to visit your blog? Malaysia boleh!

Patrick,

Vision 2020 is actually a good thing, it provide an objective where the country should be headed but.....unfortunately, I think it is not implemented accordingly.

The Twin Tower, Sepang circuit and Langkawi perhaps we should acknowledge that they were what they intended to be. I'd say he could be proud of that.

The rest is quite subjective. PLUS highway is good but it is quite a toll for our pocket and furthermore the traffic jam during festivals is madness....

MSC is like the corridor thing,,,,,more hype then good result....

One thing we should learn from the Old Man is to have thick skin- on the face. So that you can twist and turn your words without shame.
2nd thing to learn is to tell a lie long enough so that people would forget the truth and start believing your words.

After all these years, its not funny anymore.

Laughs turned solemn and if we are not vigilant, tears should follow.

His achievement?

1)All the scandal, bailout, syed mokthar and cronies etc. The more than 100bil leakages and more that dont meet the eye.

2)Singapore overtaking us in every sector and indicator. GDP, education, Purchasing power, healthcare, social etc. remember, they are without oil.

3)from hussein onn to mahathir: corruption index overshoot the roof.

4)The clampdown on civil right, media, university, operasi lalang, the compromise of all and every institutions imaginable.

5) politics infiltrate every single fibre of the society and all aspect of our wellbeing. The most endangered currently is education. It's almost a goner.

6) race as a tool was used to the max for his advantage.

7) from 70s to 80s there's a apparent change in the muhibbah spirit. You figure.

8)Sabah immigrant issue.

And a whole lot more!

THINK: What he had achieved were all money can buy. Even patrick can do better and with lower cost if he had the same amount of fund.

BUT: what he destroyed is non-tangible, the one that took decades to be built on. The one that's closest to our heart.

The one that determine the future of Malaysia, or the lack of it.

SO: Toon, an achiever or a destroyer?

UMNO thinks they can always bluff the people via Utusan. They have successfully blocked the mindset of the rural folks and now they think that they can also bluff the urban folks.

Najib should know the difference between rural and urban folks -like heaven and hell. Umno had done a great job by stagnating the mental growth of the rural folks just to win their votes, and that is why they always win in the rural areas, especially the Malay kampung and interior of Sarawak and Sabah. They are dead ducks when the face the intellectuals.

Patrick, talking about Malaysia Boleh. Just last weekend, was with my family at a shopping mall. Outside one of the big book chains was a big poster highlighting some great guy in 2004 who had wedded 53 times, blah, blah, blah. It ended with these words....MALAYSIA BOLEH. After contemplating the "achievements" for a while, I thought to myself....OH YEAH? Is that Malaysia Boleh? Then I remembered your famous rightful words....NIAMAH!!! would best describe it. Thanks.

Actually there's nothing to be proud of about the NSE Highway. It's built so that the UMNO bloodsucker can continue to siphon billions of ringgit (Yours and ours tax money) from the Government coffer. It may seem to be built for good intention but there is a sinister intention behind it. Like the malay say it best - Udang Sebalik Batu!

I think the author put "malaysia boleh" on the list there as a punt, so that we can all have a good laugh.

So far, we can fill up reams and reams of paper of situations where "Malaysia Boleh" ... but in ways that even my little pet worm thought we have a bunch of corrupted dimwits running the country.

And yes ... just imagine kids in school today, during Bahasa Malaysia lesson ... buat ayat bermula dengan .. "Malaysia Boleh ... "

Hey, they could even come up with a board game or a TV game show ... whoever makes the funniest sentence using "Malaysia Boleh" wins!!!

ayo uncle! You old already le. You should know by now that any good idea and mega project in Malaysia there is always some 'undertaking' le. Here in Malaysia they always put the cart before the horse le.

He is admitted to the hospital for some chest infection. So have some empathy for him lah. Well he is intelligent no doubt, being a real doctor and a politician. A clever mind will have many ideas. How many ideas actually succeeded ?
Vision 2020 not yet.
Proton, already.
Twin towers, already.
North south express, already.
MSC, so so.
Putrajaya. Already.
KLIA already.
Sepang circuit already.
Bakun Dam. Not so ready.
Langkawi. Not so complete.
Malaysia boleh. Sometimes not so boleh.
We have given him 22 years. If he can go back in time, what would you want him to un-do or do or not do ? Twin towers, Putrajaya, KLIA, Sepang circuit can be downsized. In fact, do you people still think KL can still function as the capital of Malaysia ?
