Weekend funnies

The brave boys in blue on their way to a march...sorry I mean a rally. Got to get the category right.

It's Friday so I thought I would try and look for something funny to post up here for the weekend. There's not really been much that is funny in the newspapers recently. Okay la so we all thought Ng Yen Yen's spend of RM1.8million to build 6 Facebook pages for Tourism Malaysia was quite funny. Actually, her explanation on video was quite entertaining too......

And did you notice her choreographed hand gestures? That was genuinely funny. And in the funnies stakes she was just ahead of deputy prime minister, Muhyiddin Yassin who announced to anyone who still wanted to listen that "...we (I suppose meaning Umno or/and the BN government) have nothing to hide especially when it involves public expenditure."  If not for the DPM the 1st part of the week would have been positively boring. Reality comedy-wise. Thank you, YB.

And while leafing through today's Star I found a couple of funnies to share with you. The first one is on page 2 titled Umno Youth plans march. Apparently, in a case of "if you can't beat them join them", Umno Youth chief, Khairy Kamaluddin announced that the wing will be organising a march on the same day the Bersih 2.0 flers plan to demonstrate for fair elections. Okay la, so some of you are really worried about what is going to happen on the day of the march (-es) and if there might be violence and injuries. So what is so funny about that, you ask? Well, for one Khairy announced that the reason for the Umno Youth demo is "to create awareness on the shortcomings of the election system and propose suggestions to improve the election process." Huh?  Isn't that what Bersih 2.0 wants to do? So why is Umno Youth organising their own march to demand the same thing? Why not join with Bersih 2.0? After all both groups are Malaysians wanting a better-run country ma.  Regardless of race some more. That would be truly 1Malaysia, right? Or a step in the right direction. But being that I guess it will never happen. Now, that's funny.  This next bit also very funny one...

Khairy alleged that many voters' names were moved by the Opposition from its winning Parliamentary constituencies to losing ones. You understand that or not?  When I read that I was also confused. Huh? What? So I did some asking around. What the accusation meant was this. Let's say Mr.X of Opposition won with a majority of 20,000 in the last election when all he needed was a simple majority of 10,000 to credibly keep the seat. So he got surplus lor. So Mr. X then gets the other 10,000 flers who voted for him to all agree to go to the national registration department and change their addresses and then re-register with the new addresses so that they can vote in the constituencies where the Opposition is weak. Now if you're a Malaysian you will know what an incredible and impossible task that is going to be. But Khairy says that is what is happening. Maybe he knows how it's done. From experience.

In the same Star story it is also reported that DPM Muhyiddin warned that Bersih should think "carefully about what it is doing and its effect on the country and impact on the people."  That is also funny. In a 'hmmmmmm......' kind of way.

In the meantime, Puteri Umno has joined a "chorus of protests" against the planned Bersih 2.0 rally Actually why is the Umno one called a march and Bersih one called a 'rally'? March got no water-cannon and tear gas issit?  And why no protests against the Umno Youth "march"?

Eh? I just thought of something. Both the March and the Rally are going to be heading to the Agung's house, the Istana to present their cases to His Majesty. Then how ah? Interesting leh.

Wah! Actually this week ending quite funny la.

NIAMAH!!!

p/s And have a great Father's Day!

"Tai-Lo", thanks for the keen observations of the antics our fellow Malaysians; off course we will also need to be ultra-tolerant of their short-comings too...sigh....!
Anyway, thats why our media, both national as well as alternative, have so much fun digressing them 'goodies' all!

Ng yen yen's spending of RM1.8 million to develop six Facebook applications was ‘seriously unjustified’.

For an app like Citrawana (one of the six) to costs close to US$100,000, this is impossible since the app is pretty straight to the point. It should cost anywhere between US$12,000 – US$15,000 inclusive of two iPads being given away as prizes.

So it is really a case of Curi Curi Wang Malaysia!

Felda seems to be the greatest capitalist in Malaysia, getting tonnes of money at the expense of the poor settlers for so many years.

Thank God, settlers are now getting more informed and wiser after being gradually taught by PAS and Pakatan Rakyat activists. Let the more informed settlers spread the good news to all other settlers to get what is rightfully theirs, finally.

That is their right, don't cheat them. One day, they will find out anyway.

Mr Rais, are you trying to find excuses to crack down on Bersih 2.0?

The government web sites are a propaganda for Umno and not for the people and so must be corrected . It has nothing to do with Bersih which is against unfair and dirty election rules and tactics. Unless equal and fair opportunities are given to all parties, we must fight against the evil that keep us in chains.

Khairy is a thorn in the Mahathir faction of Umno. Najib likes to see himself as neutral but he is beholden to the Mahathirists who can bring him down anytime with their clout in Umno and the stolen billions which they have at their disposal.

If Khairy is trying to carve a niche for himself in Umno as a 'progressive', then I would support him. In fact, Umno Youth may be 'protecting' Bersih by taking part in the rally, albeit with diametrically opposed agendas.

But his apparent thumbing his nose at Hishammuddin and declaring that it is the rakyat's constitutional right to hold peaceful rallies should be lauded and given tentative support. The notion of the right to peaceful assembly, if accepted by the police, would set a healthy precedent.

The Mahathirists will be quaking in their boots if the rally goes ahead, and we will have Khairy to thank. We need the numbers - it does not matter whether Umno or Bersih.

“I believe the Chinese community, many of them, will have to stock up on food at home,” said Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali.

Is that a thinly veiled threat against the Chinese community, Ibrahim? You should be charged under ISA for this… oh wait, I forgot he’s untouchable.

By the way, I feel bad for the people of Pasir Mas who voted for this bigot because instead of having a person who serves his constituency faithfully, they ended up with someone who is hell bent on destroying everyone he doesn’t see eye to eye.

UMNO and the Police have outsourced their illicit duties to Perkasa. Ibrahim Ali is shouting like a man possessed. First he threatened a crusade against Christians and now wants to kill the Chinese. He is even telling the police what to do. Looks like he has been the given the licence to kill.

Going by the logic of MCA President CSL, Malaysians must thank their lucky stars that they had not been charged RM18 million or RM180 million for six Facebook pages to promote tourism to Malaysia although Facebook pages are free as “creativity cannot be quantified”.

nyy: Why Koh Tsu Koon and Idris Jala can spend RM64 million nobody make noise. I only spend RM1.8 million you all kau peh kau bu.

Aiyah, what the big issue with spending RM1.8 million? Its not that Yen Yen (sounds like a panda, no?) spent RM1.8 billion even though she is capable of spending this amount if the government is not already bankrupt. There is very little commission to be earned from the RM1.8 million as there are so many free loaders to pay off in the ministry of tourism, especially when Uncle Chua aka as Pornstar also wants a cut of the commission to pay for his viagra.

How come UMNO youth which likes to make police reports did not make any police report against Ibrahim Ali? Look at what the UMNO Youth Chief said below:

"The Star"
KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has urged the authorities to take action against Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali for “threatening” the Chinese community.

Khairy said Ibrahim had made a veiled threat against the Chinese community by asking them to “stock up” before the planned Bersih 2.0 rally on July 9.

“It is a racist and seditious statement that is dangerous. Action should be taken against him as his statement is a clear threat,” he said at Parliament lobby here yesterday.

He added that the authorities should use the Sedition Act to investigate Ibrahim over his statement.

For 50yrs umno could not change itself. Dont expect umno now to change over the next few months. For governments like umno – anywhere in the world – there is only one way to make them go. Yes boot them out in general elections. But we have plenty of examples, local as well as from elsewhere, that after several decades in power elections are being reduced to mere procedures. According to the procedures the possibility of change is removed or made impossible. So what is next? Talk? Come on. Even if i gave EC the benefit of doubt that it is indeed independant, i have absolutely no confident that umno would behave properly and fairly. I hv no confident that EC could do anything in such event. I hv no confident that election judges sitting in election courts would be bold enough to rule against umno.

So what choice do we have? Make our stand loud and clear. Let us party!

Venue: The street of KL.
Day: 9 July 2011.
Event: Bersih!
