A very different Malaysia

At the risk of being called racist, unpatriotic or disrespectful of someone's religion I just thought that this is a example of how much we have changed since the days of Tun Razak, Najib's father and Bapa Pembangunan Malaysia.  Someone sent me this....

It is pages from a programme book of the KGMMB (Kesatuan Guru-Guru Melayu Malaysia Barat's 1968 AGM.................

The cover of the programme booklet....

The advertisement which appeared on Page 2......

And on the facing Page 3, the message from Tun Razak, then Deputy Prime Minister....

What a different country we were back then. Better? Worse? You will have to decide that for yourself.

Somebody obviously forgot to take the booklet off the shelves in the national archives or the library where it was discovered.

Niamah!!!

With no specific reference to the advertisement, we were better, then.

I always talk to my friend, all races (it should be 'descendant'), using the example of P.Ramlee movies.

In the movie,
1) He drank gin & tonic
2) He held and danced with ladies
3) The actress in movies, are wearing much open-minded costume.

What happened back then?
Was the crime rate very high?
Were the citizens living in perish?
Was it a corrupted society?

It was a peace and harmony society, people were generally wealthier than now.

People nowadays would still be laughing at P.Ramlee's jokes (regardless of races)

His movies are still very watchable today.

So, what's wrong with the society now?

Patrick,

Apparently the teacher's association back in the 60's was associated with the DEVIL. That's why the Education Ministry starting from Mahathir's time had to purge the DEVIL from the teacher's association and replace with more religious and holy people. See how wonderful our teachers and the Education Ministry turned out to be now. The female teachers are clad in tudungs to project the purity and religiosity of the teaching profession and the Education Ministry.

All forms of the 60's and 70's anti-Islam practices such as lion dance society, drama society, christian/buddhist/hindu society, crosses, etc are now banned on schools. Never mind the prevailing low education standard as long as our school going children inculcate the sense of polarization amongst races. Isn't this wonderful?

Those were the good old days!

Today, it would certainly be abnormal to not have any groups claiming to be heroes or defenders of so & so, burning the programmes, the offices of KGMMB, Guinness and the printers, wielding keris, dragging a cow's head & chanting foul slogans on the streets!!!

You never know... it could be Abdul razak who started the may 13th 1969 disaster.

Yeah I remember. My mom used to scold me when I was repeating the ads slogan. "Guinesss ... good for for you".

But to become a different 'now' does not means we are getting worst. My mom also used to wear those kerengga kebaya then.

Due to the better education, Muslims in Malaysia are getting into their religions better now. Thats the change.

As for the non Muslim, i guessed Guinness is still good for you then ha ha.

I was 10 years old then and blissfully unaware of colour differences. I could freely go to my Malay friend's kampong home and occasionally share meals with his family.

Then came May 13 with increasing references to bumiputras, which first came to my attention in the now defunct Asian Magazine. Since then, the divide and polarisation has become even more accentuated.

Who do I blame for this state of affairs? The UMNO-led BN, as well as theocratic parties such as PAS. We need to get away from all this race and religion-based politics and send these parties to the garbage bin of history where they belong. The state and religion must be two separate entities.

However, history has also shown us that violent upheavals are usually inevitable when the irresistible force of people power comes up against the immoveable object, known as the establishment. We all know that despotic regimes rarely accede to the people's wishes without violent suppression.

Will change happen? I believe so but blood will have to be shed before it comes. I hope I'm mistaken but the lessons of history are seldom wrong.

That's 1Malaysia progress:

More religious.
It used to cost 8 months salary to buy a car, now a car costs 3 years' salary.
More crimes.
More cronyism.
More corruption.
More debt.
More short-sightedness.
More racism.
More censorship.
More hopelessness.
More .... Niamah!

It is very different compared to now!
It all started with the ruleof that mamak kutty premiership.
He started to coin such word as bumiputra(so the others are labelled as pendatang),created many UMNOputras and malay middle class who are depending on UNMO for their survivals and using racial divide and religion to protect their survival. So this group has become intorent and at times gangster-like to defend themselves.
God Bless Malaysia!

The country is in such state simply because The People allowed the government to weapon-ize religion and race to strike fear and paranoia into its own citizens.

We did it, and now can we undo it?

Do you know that MIC lost its plot the moment that Guiness Stout ad was no longer on TV?

This is true.

Anyway, that 'Guiness Stout Is Good For You' TV is a true classic.

I hope to find it in Youtube.

That black & white TV ad (in Tamil) of 'Guiness Stout Is Good For You' featuring the Indian brothers getting a lorry up from a muddy situation is a classic!

Someon should upload it to Youtube for our young generation to see.

MIC lost its oomph factor after the ad was taken off the air.

America became great because of migration . We once were on the way to being a great nation because of the mix of various races contributing each others strength for the betterment of the nation. Once people forgot the contributions of each races in their own ways and started thinking of mine and my race mentality , the nation has started its slide to mediocrity . This has allowed opportunistic low class politicians of every race to plunder the country while the people r distracted fighting and becoming suspicious abd intolerant of each other.

Let the bygone go bygone. Akhirat nanti Allah SWT yang akan mengadili.

We got a more formidable globalization challenge. Equal rights are the ultimate goal of globalization as portrayed by that ads.

Do you want globalization?
Where every race is known to be 1? Where the status quo is no longer valid?
Where no people are living by agricultural background?
Where no lower, middle and elite classes of Malaysians anymore?

Please cherish the diversity we have gotten. Whether you feel differences are bad, take a look in US now, every single citizen there is everybody else.
