Since this TV ad came to light a lot of people have commented saying that it is racist. But it isn't. The girl in the video could have been Malay, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan or any of the 100+ ethnic groups in Malaysia. The effect would have been the same. It just shows a total lack of good taste and a total absence of creativity in communication.

I'm from Johor and, in all my years of attending Ramadhan Bazaars, I have never seen behaviour like that.
The ad is obviously meant to be a community message, but I wonder why they think its necessary to send this particular message?
More importantly, this ad (in particular the comment about the woman's attire) doesn't seem to accord well with the 1Malaysia concept.
It seems to me whoever wrote/created the ad is wanting to gain points with either UMNO or the Malay/Muslim group - to what purposes is anyone's guess.

I find the first two commercials acceptable, though the taste is a bit "low".

What I find most objectionable is the lip service being paid to false piety. The patriarchal control freak impulse masquerading as outward displays of religiosity - investing money in an utterly senseless exercise making a fucking big deal out of a religio-cultural practice that has been around nearly 15 centuries. The fact that Muslims caught eating during Ramadhan can be arrested and fined is in itself a form of ideological fascism. These are merely superficial ritualistic aspects of Islam that have little to do with true Islamic valies, which surely do not condone deceit, arrogance, bigotry, prejudice, greed and corruption.

The director and the ppl at 8TV that accepted the ads are utterly insipid. They could have delivered th emessage in other ways without insinuiating this and that.
The other brainless ad team(s) is(are) the one(s) making the Petronas ads. Indians fighting each other during Deepavali, lonely old people over Chinese New Year and dead ones on Hari Raya. I have always maintained that one of the many deceitful ways Umno is using is to expedite approval for the unskilled and unprofessional muslims, Indonesian muslims and Southern Philipinoes muslims to become citizens.
This was done mainly for two reasons, the first is for the muslims in the country to be the big majority and also these new immigrants (citizens) will cast their votes for Umno.
This gimmick was first introduced by the grand son of the untouchable pariah from Kerala shenanigan Mahathir. Also that was done for the abaci mentioned two reasons plus he also had another reason to do so.
He played around with the census figures to show that the Malays were the big majority in the country. And just to justify his mark up he expedited the approval of citizenships for those citizens before his dirty trick was exposed.Needless to say he did all that without any consideration for the country's security to cater for such an influx. He did so just to remain as P.M. for 23 years. Not that he was so popular but merely through deceits so that he was able to continue stealing. That is why he is known as the shenanigan Mahathir and the actions of a pariah.
Something else most readers may not be aware of was that his untouchable pariah grand father could not even find an Indian to marry and to satisfy his lust because of his status as a pariah. As a result he ended up having to marrying a Malay !
You also see rubbish not collect several days before Chinese New Year. On the 1st Day of Chinese New Year, the lorry will come with very loud banging and shouting for Ang Pow door too door to make their presence known. How they respect the Chinese New Year? It's like a joke.............so we must also respect the Hari Raya Puasa.
This ad reminds me of politicians sweeping roads before elections...

aren't this from media prima aka tv3? if i'm not mistaken last year around puasa month, there was a "sensitive" raya advert by tv3 and it was then taken off the air after objections from our malay rakyat. the advert has some christmas elements in it with santa claus etc. either something is wrong with the whole creative team in tv3/media prima or they are not sensitive to the malaysian ppl.
