Ahhhhh...for the good old days
A couple of weeks ago some friends asked about my experience with UniFi's broadband service. I told them it was the best thing since sliced bread! Best! No problem at all! And when I needed service they were prompt and efficient.
For the past week I have been having endless problems with UniFi. The connection keeps dropping. The connection is totally unstable. And every 60 minutes or so I've had to power off the modem and the router and power on again before I got any broadband service.
I called UniFi last week and the lady there got me to change some numbers on something. Then everything worked again. This week the problem returned. With a vengence. I am not even sure I can send out this message as the signal strength is now down to 1 bar (very weak). And I am fully expecting the connection to terminate and I'd have to go downstairs to power off and on the modem and router. For the 4th time since I switched on the laptop this morning.
When I called UniFi the lady informed me that they have my complaint on record. She also said that the UniFi technicians will make an appointment to look into my complaint. BUT!!! If they find anything wrong with the modem or the router they will charge me for replacing them! PLUS they will also charge for the service visit.
Ya, I also wanted to scream WHAT THE FUCK!!! But chill pill taken...I just have to accept that that's the way things are done nowadays. And I began day dreaming about the good old days. When we didn't have Internet or needed broadband. We just had a telephone and the service from Telekom Malaysia. I don't remember ever having to pay TM for anything other than my phone usage. If the hand set broke. I tell them. They come with a new one. No charge. Thank you. So different la these days. We pay for this and that all the time. But then here in Malaysia we pay also we don't get what we pay for. Most of the time. Sad hor?
