What is Your name ah?

Actually, what is your name ah?

God has been in the news a lot lately. Mostly about what His name is. I don't see what the big fuss is about. What's in a name? We all believe there is only one God, right? Well, I am not talking to my Hindu friends la. They've got so many they can't remember all the names so names ain't a big thing for them. But, so what is the big deal with God's name? Why can't I call Him what I wish. With respect. With love. With understanding. For all we know, God's real name might be Jimmy. Or Hassan. Or Moorthi.

Actually, does anyone think that God really bothers what you call Him? Personally, I think God is big enough to be over all that. As long as we follow His teachings. As long as we love each other as we love ourselves, like He taught us. He will be happy with us and bless us. But we have not been doing His will nor have we been following His teachings for a long time, have we? Not really.

And then some more ah...... think about it......when I get the chance to meet God face-to-face and had only 1 question to ask the Supreme Being, the One who knows the true meaning of life, the Omnipotent One who knows the answers to all questions ever conceived. Would I go up to Him and ask,

"Excuse me. Actually, what is Your name ah?"

NIAMAH!!!

Najib is just letting his ' people ' do the talking. HE is a MAN of SILENCE. Since the GE 14 is still a long way to go, he knows that the people will eventually forget the whole issue and when the time election comes, he knows that his BRIMs will eventually help the BN government again.

Welcome to Malaysia where stupid people made sure they run the country. How stupid for Utusan to exult that the Court’s ruling was a gift from Allah to Muslims in Malaysia. How stupid for some Muslims to ask the Christians to ship out if they were not happy with the Court’s decision. Sabah and Sarawak belong to more than 1.8 million Christians and some of these stupid so called Muslims in Peninsular Malaysia wanted them to emigrate? Will Utusan and these goons equate the release of two former special swat force in the Altantuyah murder case as another gift from Allah to a Muslim who had ordered the brutal murder of Altantuyah? How more stupid do Utusan and these goons want the country to be ? Do not tarnish the good name of Islam and jeopardise peace and harmony in this multi racial country because of your stupidity, hidden agenda and greed. Do we have to wait for several more years or longer to reverse the flawed judgement delivered by three unfit judges?

The people who claimed 'that god's name' only belong to them are having inferiority complex and low IQ! Some more like to shout here and there as if he has lost his parent!

God said "I Am Who I Am - stop calling Me names"

Do not make fun of the Indians just to make you look witty. You should not write about things that you know nothing about or very little. You are referring to images of God and the belief that God is present everywhere. Please check your facts.

My sincere apologies to all Hindus for wrongly assuming that they have many gods. Hindus believe in ONE God who appears in different forms. No insult or disrespect meant or intended. Maaf.

I thought Allah is not a name but is an arabic word for God.

If the word can be used among Christians in Sabah and Sarawak, it shows that there is really no legal rationale for banning the use of the word by Christians in the first place! It also suggests that the issue is politically motivated rather than one that arises out of real concern for the faith of the Muslims. Does it make sense that a Malay speaking Christian is allowed to refer to God as “Allah” when in Sabah and Sarawak, but he must stop doing so once he steps into Peninsular Malaysia? If there is anything really wrong with the use of the word by Christians then the ban must be applied to the whole nation. The inconsistency in applying the “law” reveals the absurdity of the ban.

Even if Sabahans are Sarawakians are allowed to use the banned word in West Malaysia, are the police going to come into the church and check the attendees one by one whether he is a Sabahan or Sarawakian?

Depends which version of the Abrahamic books you've been reading boss.. The Old Testament portrays a very greedy, jealous and always on the edge version of the Old Man.. These muslim fellas are suppose to be the latest version of the Abrahamic God, but still act as if they're stuck in 1st century padang pasir.. maybe we should relocate this 10% of tin kosong to Gurun in Kedah and throw the camels away..

In my people's language, the Almighty's name is written as "^^@^^".

It has the same pronunciation as the banned word in Malaysia.

An excerpt of our holy book goes like this ...

.... "^^@^^ is great!"

No apology necessary but i accept it as a Hindu. I laughed abt cant remembering all the names so names ain't a big thing for them; because its true. :)

btw if its not a big deal with God's name; why didn't the Church stop using Allah and called him/her/it Tuhan?. Not the whole book, mind you. Just one word.

No big deal. tc gbu

I call my God any way I want because He knows that I believe in Him unlike some ignorant extremist fools who think they would go to heaven faster and mate with the 72 virgins if they own the name of their God.

my name is my name,

I think the problem could be solved if the Christians use a different spelling 'Al-lah' instad of 'Allah'.

Anon 4:18 Istighfar. The Prophet tak suka lah.

Ya lah Mr.Teo, in the 80's the Christians tolak the name Allah why now mati2an mahu?
To go n see the Sultan must bathe n dress to nines n bongkok double. Common sense will say how can we go to The Omnipresent, The Almighty n simply say wats yr name. Its not befitting His majesty. Must watch the language (even if u saying it tongue in cheek) n protocols where Allah is concerned.
We sure hope u guys will learn n understand why the word 'Allah' is so revered in Islam. The ONE who owns the name will guard it against humans misconception. We tried our best. Not to say we're trying to scare, but it is a powerful word.
Great responsibility you know. U must baca 'Al-Quran' n Insyallah, Allah (where this word is mentioned numerously) will guide those who are sincere.
Then when we meet in His presence, dont say we didnt tell you arh.

Salam.

Patrick,

I think you should know more about Islam before commenting on this issue. What are Islam's rules and regulation? What are the teachings? Its not as simple as you assumed. As a Muslim, I'm not blaming you for your comment as you maybe doesnt know the details. But I guarantee that you will understand if you learn more about Islam's teaching.

1. must God be given a name??

2. Since Allah is a arabic word and the bible is in Bahasa Melayu why must insist the arab word for God?
What's the agenda?

Perkasa is an UMNO right wing creation whose spiritual father is Mahathir Mohammed which uses racism, religious bigotry, crude behaviour and violence as its modus operandi. Under the guise of fighting for the Malays and Islam, together with UMNO's sponsorship they feel they are given licence to act with impunity. Sadly, in the process they disgrace the Malay race and bring Islam into public podium. Malaysians particularly the Malays must stand up and be counted and reject the Perkasa agenda which is damaging the harmony of our nation.

Exactly, Anonymous 4.18PM just play by the rules as set by Patrickteoh. If you can't play along, then leave it. No body will stop you. We're supposed to be living in a civilized world, whereby truths and reasons reign. Patrick keep it up. Job well done.

This is a good article :
Extremism in the name of Islam and Malaysian Muslims
http://asiapacific.anu.edu.au/newmandala/2013/09/22/extremism-in-the-name-of-islam-and-malaysian-muslims/

Malaysia being a fertile ground for Islamic extremism is partly caused by the Islamisation agenda of UMNO.

The racist and extremist-inclined policies administered by UMNO and its affiliated groups such as JAKIM as being itself anti-Islam. Although on occasions, a limited number of non-Muslims may have misconducted themselves before Islam; yet this is often due to their ignorance fed by local quasi-extremists who are allowed by UMNO to freely roam and roar around the country or merely exercising their rights within a democratic framework.

My name is Rashid. According to some Islamic text, my name is one of those 99 names of God. Perkasa may suggest that this name should also be not allowed be used by non-Muslim.

It's the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen. See the link below for more info.

Yes, God has 99 names plus one "secret" name in the Koran. One of the names is "Malik" which is also used by some rulers because it mans "King". God also has 3,000 names in all.

But, as they say, "a rose by any other name smells just as sweet". In my youthful ignorance I believed that dyslexics would misspell God's name and that it was alright.
